Henta Okumidori has a creamy, buttery and smooth mouthfeel which is very appealing. The tea has a pale yellow-green colour with lots of umami and a strong vegetal character, reminiscent of veggies like spinach and green beans.

The powder is bright green, and the smell is vegetal, like edamame. It is a thick matcha with some dry aftertaste. You can taste the sweetness and a little bit of acidity. Suitable for those who like their matcha with a punchy flavour.

It has a distinct difference between infusions, as if you're drinking a completely different tea.
The first infusion has a very soft, velvety texture and mild roasted notes, the second and subsequent ones are more brisk and vegetal with an uplifting citrusy finish.

This matcha mixes well, not too strong. It's slightly bitter. Sweetness hits the back of the throat at about 30 seconds after a sip. The tea's body starts to open up. It's mild and creamy, but I'm still running into my usual problem - it's hard to detect the notes that surround the main body of a matcha unless I drink several of them back to back as a flight. It yields a nice aftertaste which continues to linger several minutes later. I wish I had made it about 5 degrees warmer.

Sweet, bright and savory aromas in the dry leaves. Leaves are very pretty. 5 grams, 60℃, 1 minute. Infusion unleashes a spinach flavor and a nice green in the liquor. Like many Japanese teas, the leaves are super absorbent. This tea contains lots of stems. It's sweet and warming.

Here are some tasting/ aroma notes I could detect:
Dry leaf - sour cherries, freeze-dried strawberries, shortbread, hint of dried rosemary and sage, nettle broth, dried elderflower, oatmeal and almond milk.
Wet leaf - very similar to dry leaf except more intense on the oatmeal and almond milk, slightly sweeter perhaps overall.

The leaves for this tea are long, flat, and quite dark. As soon as you pour the water they start unfolding and adopt this vivid emerald green colour.
This gyokuro definitely leans more towards the sweet and savoury flavour profile. The grassy profile is quite pronounced, and is balanced by a hint of saltiness. This isn’t the most “typical” gyokuro taste, but it’s extremely well balanced with all of the nuances...
