I ordered a 72" non-combustible mantel by Design Specialties. When it did not ship I was told that it broke and I was asked if I would take the mantel with straps. After it arrived, I saw that it came with corbels and there were 4 holes in the bottom of the mantel to connect the corbels. 1. They say about 3 wks to deliver. More like 5+
2. The “options” available for my cover include a draft for $75. Apparently my choice of cover has a draft built into the sides and does need the added draft option which was recommended when I spoke to sales on the phone. Why does the website allow selection of an option that is not valid? And why did I need to send an email to customer service to point out that they owed me a refund given I added the option on my order?...

The right side panel was bent at the bottom and the air vent at the bottom arrived unattached and missing the screw that held the small round handle on it. Very disappointed with the mantle. I was assured by a company representative before the purchase that it had a realistic wood look but not so. Everyone who saw it immediately knew it was a fake wood look. I will not be using it. I emailed the company about a return and never received a response. I do not recommend this product.

My fireplace is made of stone. Stones do not have as smooth and defined finish as brick. I should have been told to allow more for this when making measurements. Because of the "uneven" finish of stone there are small but visible gaps between the screen and the stone where sparks could fly through, creating a fire hazard. I should have been told that I need a much larger allowance than a 1/2 inch on the sides and top.

I would NEVER do business with Exceptional Fire again!! First insert arrived with a TON of damage. The replacement arrived and still has scratches on some of the black parts. One of the most frustrating parts though, the lead anchors. They are a JOKE!!! Every one of them would just spin in the holes. And yes, the holes were drilled the correct size. At this point, still trying to figure out what to do to get it installed!!!!

I am sorry to say for $1000, this an extremely low quality piece of merchandise and we would like to return it. From the weight to the build quality, we are extremely disappointed. Even the screw holes for the stand don’t allow the screen to be upright and vertical completely. How can we get this? Returned to you and refunded?
