Received the bag, opened it and grabbed a couple for a picnic I was heading to. At the picnic, I watched the host struggle to start the fire so we roast hotdogs. I jumped and handed him ONE Firestarter. He look at me and I said just light this and you'll be golden. In no time at all, the fire was going, and the picnic was saved. Easiest fire starter I've even used. Highly recommended. I'll never go back to struggling with newspapers. These were the bomb.

I do a great deal of smoking meat and use smoke tubes for extra flavor. Sometimes they are hard to keep lit so I use the Blackbeard fire starters to keep things going. I cut them into small pieces and put a piece every 2 inches. It stays going and there is never any worry about any fumes to mess up the smoke.

They work awesome, if you can't get a fire lit with these you need to turn in your man card. I'd guess they burn for 5 or 6 minutes in pretty much any condition. I haven't tried them in the rain but imagine they'll work.put these in your bugout bag.

I just received my kit and I'm stoked! We actually took it into the backyard to make sure we had an idea how it all works. Built a small fire in no time! I took this out on my last camping trip and it works as advertised. I highly recommend a very sharp knife when cutting this fire starter. The pouch is nice quality but in my opinion should be larger.

These are game changers for starting fires! They are so easy to use! By just following the directions on the package and using dry wood, you will have a fire going in seconds. Many are packaged in a small package and I use two to start a fire so they should last a long time. I will continue to purchase this product.

I just recently use 1 fire plug to light my BBQ Firebox the big chunky wood fired right up.

We were having trouble getting our fire started due to the type of wood we were able to use. After several attempts the traditional way, we pulled out the Blackbeard fire sticks and it worked immediately and stayed lit even through a pretty intense thunderstorm. When the storm passed, the fire remained lit and started itself again with no assistance!

Experimented with lighting them in water ,which we here in the PNW get plenty of,worked like claimed. Burn time individually was longer than anticipated,they light easily,but not much luck with a Ferro Rod,will need to practice on that a little more.
Bought to keep in vehicles for those unexpected situations.

Since I got the "Life Line Kit", I don't need anything else. Very comprehensive. Everything is there. I feel, that I'm covered in all wet weather situations. Great products!
The only thing to add is a quality Fresnel Lens. For starting fires when the weather is clear.
Suggestion:
You might think about including Fresnel Lens in your kits.
It shouldn't increase cost very much.

The only problem I had with this kit was I tried to use the smallest amount of fire rope possible;the ferro rod couldn't put a spark on the tinder in enough of an amount to light it. The plasma lighter did it without incident or any hassle.

This is the ideal solution to creating a fire even in the rain. Follow the instructions, smoosh the pads plenty, light them up against dry tinder or dry wood, and you're in business! I bought multiple packs because I didn't want to create a homemade solution. I also don't want to put myself in a situation where it'll be hard to build a fire in a dire situation. You can spend time building a fire when there's no emergency, but you want something quick if there is.
