I loved this!! I bought it as a post-surgical craft to keep busy but I was wrong about this being low intensity. I live in a dry climate so the willow required a lot of spraying to maintain suppleness. The willow is long but still fit in my bathtub as I soaked them in batches for parts one and two. I think having longer willow would have made it easier to secure the sides of the basket like a ponytail at the top as these would come out of that top bunch as I was working (but I also went against ...

The videos are fantastic: highly informative, well shot, pacing was good, lovely extra info on variations and using correct technique. I highly recommend these courses. My only *minor* complaint was that the willow was dry enough that it took much longer to soak than expected (~10 days) to not break in the middle when weaving. Not an uncommon thing when working natural materials, just soak it longer and use only the thinner ends towards the center when starting the basket and making tight turns....

First weaving project, great project everything provided to complete the project, and easy to contact company direct and quick response.Excellant video tutorials really clear and good quality . I can’t say I did it with just my two hands near the end with bending the rods into the roof i needed some extra strength. Throughly enjoyed it and now have a beautiful if not perfectly made bird feeder I. Recommend having a go.

The instructions were very clear, unfortunately I did not have the confidence to crank the willow to attach the handle. It would be helpful if an alternative was shown. My hands were getting tired so as you can see I wrapped the willow to attach the handle ie I made it up!

Really clear tutorial. I loved doing it so much. Mine ended up too big and wonky, but can't wait to try it again. Only one problem I found, because it took me quite along time, my upright willows dried out to much and started to snap. Definitely allow a whole day, I did 2 half days. I tried to keep them damp over night but obviously not enough.

A wonderful first experience! It's good keep your spray handy in dry weather and my best tip would be to get those uprights at a good vertical angle early on to prevent the basket spreading out. Mine was a little wide so I added an extra layer of wailing at the top and that made it perfect. This was a challenging piece, but the video tutorials were clear and well paced. Very easy to follow and understand. At first my weavers would snap, so I soaked for 10 days altogether, then they were fine. Just the right amount of weavers included, with extra for redos. Highly recommend this bird feeder course!

I bought the bird box kit with one for a friend. We made them at a craft get together over one day. I loved it! The video was so clear and instructive which made it easy to follow. Every stage was covered. Working the reeds was quite satisfying and although you expect it to be quite difficult, it was in fact, quite easy. Friends were impressed with the finished article. Just completed these two bird houses. I loved making them, I did the first following the easy to understand video instructions without any problems and quickly followed making the second the next day. The willow was thin enough and nice and pliable for my arthritic fingers to bend to shape! I even think I have enough left over to create a 3rd. This was my first ever attempt at weaving and I am not disappointed! I look at my basket every day and think "wow, I made that! The videos and top tips are invaluable. I learned early on not to be over eager and skip ahead... You can't! Making this basket provided some valuable "me time" and the confidence to have a go and try again if you fluff it! The course is well written, with plenty of tips and of excellent quality. Now I just need to decide what to have a go at next!

Instructions were easy to follow and the end result is now hanging in a tree in the garden, hoping some residents take up the offer of a home next year. I found I needed to oak the willow a little longer than advised. And if I another one with the willow I have left I will try to make the entrance a little smaller.

The video tuition was excellent ... it was good to be able to replay to get techniques right until it became second nature. I had not realised the complexity of basket weaving and I suppose I should have done, but the techniques shown and the explanations given all made complete sense and helped me understand why I needed certain elements to be done. Long ago I made so many baskets and thought this would be a great project. I was not disappointed and the instructions were very easy to follow. You will learn your own techniques along the way. Don't be afraid to readjust a spoke here and there. The best part about it all is it hangs in my tree just outside of my dining room window. Mine isn't a museum piece but I enjoy looking at it. I'm hopeful to see a bird having a little interest. Nothing yet but soon!

I had so much fun challenging myself to make the basket; I haven't made the star yet. And it is very true that your first attempt will be somewhat wonky. But the instructions are easy to follow, and I was able to go back and stop and start the videos as much as I needed to really understand what I was doing. My basket looks awfully silly, but it holds things and was made by me. I will treasure this and buy more experiences and baskets from here in the future!

Really loved making this. Thought it would be complex but found the instructions really easy to follow and very pleased with my first attempt. I wasn't sure I had enough left in the bundle of willow to make a second one so I tasked myself with trying to make a smaller one with what was left and see where I got to. I was able to make a full second one and didn't need to refer to the course as I easily remembered the instructions. Really happy how they've turned out :)
