Made a Christmas Strawberry Matcha Latte with the washimine 🍓🍵 Always wished it was winter in NZ during Christmas but summer means it's strawberry season, making it the best time to try the strawberry matcha combo. Plus, the colours make it look extra christmassy too! 💚❤️ Thank you Nio Teas! If you liked my recipe, make sure to follow my Instagram account 👉 @natalie_home_creations

To start, this tea offers a vibrant vegetal and sweet aroma. The taste is equally uplifting, with strong umami and vegetal flavor, grounding mineral notes, and a lingering hint of citrus. The tea's qi is clarifying and direct, bringing a sense of descending warmth throughout the body and a clear-headed focus. As I drink this tea, I’m reminded of flowering trees, the bright green colors, and the invigorating power of early spring.

I’ve tried many ceremonial matcha powders from different websites, but this is by far the best. The quality is excellent and the flavor is truly unique. It’s incredibly smooth, with no grassy aftertaste at all. Even after a few months of proper storage, the taste doesn’t change. I tried it with plant-based milk to make both hot and iced matcha lattes, but I personally prefer it with just water. I highly recommend it — the price is reasonable, and the quality is outstanding.

This has such a creamy texture, 2 grams with 60 mL water at 70 C is just perfection. No bitterness nor astringency is present. It lasts on the palate very long and the subtle sweetness coming from behind is so nice. I can drink this matcha everyday.

This 30g pouch has a deep winter forest green that perfectly blends with a creamy full oat milk. I pair this with a simple syrup to cancel out some earthy grassy tones.

Notes of cocoa + toasted nuttiness that are followed by a slight tang + sharpness in the back of the throat. astringency is minimal but present, while bitterness is almost non-existent. i also located subtle umami notes throughout with an overall velvety texture, making this quite enjoyable alone.

This is probably one of the most beautiful sencha teas I've ever had. The liquor is a phenomenal color and texture and the flavor is very archetypal of a good sencha with strong savory, vegetal notes at the forefront and subtle sweet, fruity notes on the nose and in the aftertaste. This is the perfect example of what a sencha should be, in my opinion

Absolutely delicious. This is perfect for when you want to drink hot tea on a warm day. I enjoyed this tea during a summer sunset and it was perfect. It allows you to enjoy its mellower notes while making you feel uplifted. Toasted undertones, fresh vegetal, undertones of citrus. Highly recommend!

Matcha Chanoka Silver Cultivar: Asahi I immerse myself in the vibrant world of Matcha Chanoka Silver, an intense green tea that promises a rich and mature experience. The powder of this prized matcha releases a delicate aroma with subtle citrus notes, which entice the first taste. Upon sipping, the liquid glides down the throat like silk, offering a rounded umami enriched with a pleasant marine note and an intriguing 'metallic' hint. The empty cup leaves an aroma reminiscent of freshly cut fr...

Wow, The new Saemidori Shincha from Tanegashima is truly amazing! First the smell is so strong of freshness and when it was in the kyusu it smelled like watermelon. After pouring water, it was cereal-like smell. The flavor then when drinking in first brew full of sweetness and mild as well, ofc with the presence of freshness 😝. The second brew becomes more intense and grassy with a hint of umami like matcha! It is soooo sweet!!!! It is present in the palate and dominates it for a long time 🤤🍵. I...

Such a delicious tea! I took some time to do a tasting with this tea, and these are my impressions. Dry Leaf Scent: Highly aromatic roses, gardenia flowers, plum jam, and lemon bars. Wet Leaf Scent: Sweet steamed baby bok choy, jasmine flower, and toasted whole grain waffles with honey. 1st Infusion Taste: Extremely aromatic gardenia flower, rose water, freshly baked almond croissant, and dark honey. 2nd Infusion Taste: Miso soup (umami, sweet and salty, and toasty), honey, and bok choy. Customer photo review of Gyokuro Genmaicha
Darren U.
Clean, smooth, and refreshing Genmaicha . The Gyokuro material helps soften this blend and the toasted rice is more akin to unsalted, unbuttered popcorn. This is one of the very first loose leaf teas I ever tried over a decade ago, and this version using slightly higher quality Japanese green is an excellent introduction to Geinmaicha, a tea that almost always bats several leagues above its price point. It’s simple, and it’s not all that fancy, but that’s exactly what is so incredible about it. ...

I have been enjoying exploring this sampler set while reading Nio Tea's extensive blog posts to learn more about Japanese teas. It has been a fun summer activity to sort the samples into their types (gyokuro, sencha, hojicha, etc.) and drink them one by one each day. Each tea has been delicious and unique in subtle ways. Through this process, I am developing my palate and identifying my favorites for future purchases. I highly recommend this sampler set for any tea head interested in learning mo...

Tasting and aroma notes detected in different phases of tasting: Dry leaf - kinder bueno, oat milk, white chocolate coated almonds, cocoa butter, steamed apples and pears, dragonfruit skin, honey granola bar. Wet leaf - just like the dry leaf except with a new note of pear skins and a hint of rock sugar and ground cinnamon. There's something very warm and comforting about the smell of the wet leaf I can't quite describe. Texture - thick, linger for a while with a refreshing astringent aftertaste...

Great gyokuro, first steep is sweet, nutty and It is golden-coloured. After the second and third steeps, you can appreciate the tea's vegetal and minerality more. It’s on my list to buy more 🤭.

This Gyokuro from the sweet Saemidori cultivar, is a green tea that seduces the senses with its ultra-sweet and lightly toasted aroma, evoking subtle notes of grilled corn. The first infusion is an explosion of flavor: dense and almost chewy on the palate, it manifests with an elegant potency. Its complex nuances recall kombu seaweed, soy, and vegetables, with buttery zucchini mingling with strong accents of a savory meat and vegetable broth. The distinct umami profile is enriched with a sweet...

Roasted green teas are always very calming and comforting; the sweetness reminds me of a brown sugar reduction, but not in an overpowering way. Very dessert-like, with notes of vanilla and butter, among other things. A very good tea

An exceptional mix of sencha and matcha, designed specifically to be cold infused; and me, I took the advice! A vivid green color, deep and bright, definitely given also by the presence of matcha. Fresh, herbaceous, sweet and umami taste, a flavor that lingers on the palate, and knows how to refresh hot summer days. Absolutely a must try! Customer photo review of Bancha
Seth G.
This bancha itself smells wonderful. It's intensely aromatic, with a sharp, really bright fragrance that smells like freshly clipped tea leaves. It's a very layered tea with a nice body, but it bites a little hard. It really reminds me of tea leaves that have just been pulled off the bush and brewed without any additional processing. It's got a bright astringency that translates into an almost spicy, sort of Sichuan peppercorn numbness on the tongue and roof of the mouth.

This one has a lot of vegetal and umami notes early on with a refreshing, fruity aftertaste. As always, I adore the vibrant green liquor. For this tea I followed the brewing guide, and it was just about perfect, but a little hotter water wouldn't hurt. Excellent tea!

Customer photo review of Gyokuro Superior Wakamusha+1
Luca R.
Gyokuro Wakamusha is an extraordinary tea that enchants the senses with its intense, deep vegetable aroma. On the nose, it immediately recalls the scent of vegetables cooked with butter and freshly baked bread, with the leaves releasing a captivating sweetness and light floral notes once soaked. The liquor, very dense and enveloping, offers a powerful and assertive taste with a pronounced umami. Hints of soy sauce and buttery vegetables can be perceived, reminiscent of a rich meat broth. Customer photo review of Roasted Hojicha Green Tea Noike

There are no strong aromas on the dry leaves, but the tea looks great and has a lot of stems, giving it somewhat of a camping vibe. The infusion is 5g, 70℃, 60 seconds, which yields a satisfying bright amber color that's lighter than most hojichas I've tried. It's smooth and pleasant, with a less overpowering roastedness than a lot of hojichas, and leaving a brown sugar aftertaste in the throat. The second infusion is more full-bodied.

2 grams infused at 70℃. The Henta was grassy, sweet, nutty, smooth, and one letter short of a cinematic masterpiece. It was easier to foam than the Koun, full-bodied, and had a comfortable mouth-feel.

As far as flavor and fragrance go this is a typical sencha (by which I mean typical of all the senchas on this site, a very vegetal, umami, slightly fruity tea that I really can't get enough of), however the texture is something else altogether in the best possible way; it is very thick and exceptionally oily. It may be something with how this particular tea was processed, but maybe the oils were expressed from the leaves in such a way that you get a lot of it when brewing. After you drink it co...
