After tasting all the teas in the NIO sampler, this stem tea - Gyokuro Karigane was in the top three! Subtle sweetness and vegetal notes make this a fine morning tea or afternoon tea. I brew longer than recommended to bring out a fuller flavor. Feel free to experiment with brewing times.

This is a great way to sample these Japanese teas. This would also make a fun gift. You could even split it up, giving several teas to different people. They are each in their own foil packet.
I appreciated the instructions on each package detailing the water temperature and brewing times as well as instructions for second and beyond brews. I was unsure when I purchased if you could get more than one brew from each sample. You can!

The flavor is somewhat bitter, but creating a nice foam is simple. I use 85 degrees Celsius water to make it. As I whisk it, it cools down to a drinkable temperature. If it's on sale, I would buy it, but not at full price.

Only reason it's not 5 stars is that I have no way of validating the claim that the tea is sourced from suppliers who use the minimum of harmful pesticides and chemicals. An organic selection would be amazing.

The first gyokuro I ever bought (from a different store) was quite disappointing, so I was not sure what to expect, but after trying this tea it quickly became my go to tea in the morning.
