I am new to knife sharpening and Cliff Curry videos made a difference. The belts I have received are very good quality and make sharpening easy. My little brother is a chef and has his stones to sharpen. Once he used my knife he asked me to sharpen his knives. The belt makes it easy to remove metal and bring out a clean edge. I have now sharpen close to a hundred knives and the belt just keeps going.

I did see how to get a burr on scalloped knives. I found how to use a fixed base sharpener to hold the knife while I use the dremel bit to refresh the scallops.

Leather belts are just as you expect but at a better price than you might find them in a woodworking shop. Really made a difference after running through a belt progression on my newly modified 1x30 (using the new wheels from Curry Custom Cutlery. Used with compound, these will get your blades to the easy push cut through paper stage. Still planning on a leather wheel as well for quick touch ups.

This latest version of the angle plate addresses a shortcoming the previous version which, due to the nature of the plates construction on the right side, blocked the knifes balustrade short of allowing full blade length from the belt. I need to check the plates mounting/adjustment screw pathways on the 1x30 Vevor to see if they now allow closer plate positioning to the belt/platten. The Cubitron 120 (P120) is the second stage of Cliffs Holy Trinity of what he states as his three “go to” belts he uses on a regular basis. This belt is preceded by Trizact 600 (A30 I believe) then this belt and finished off with a leather stropping belt dressed with polishing compound. As I’ve mentioned previously you can get crazy with high grit belts for a mirror finish but I’ve found the Trinity to be more than satisfactory for a really great edge on day to day blades.

The Trizact 600 grit is one of three “go to” grits that Cliff uses on a regular basis. This belt is followed by a Cubitron 120, and finished off with a leather stropping belt dressed with polishing compound. Sure you can get crazy with high grit belts for a mirror finish but I’ve found Cliff’s “Triad” to be more than satisfactory for a really great edge.

These wheels are awesome. The 600 is my second sharpening step and removes burns like crazy! They are also great for satin polish and cleaning up blades. The 220 is a workhorse in rust removal.

The triact belts do not produce much dust and seems to last longer. Only thing is that I dislike is when you had the Trizec different numbers a 30, a45 its hard to see the numbers after belts get a little worn.

I like the leather 8" or 6" wheel versus the leather belt because it's somewhat more aggressive and can usually knock off the burr, or smooth out the apex with one or two passes, versus at least two passes, and sometimes 4 passes with the belt.
