Over the last 3 1/2 years I have planted approximately 175 trees. 82 of them hybrid Chestnuts, then with a mixture of burr, white, red and sawtooth oak. I have also purchased permission, crab apple, pecan and deer plum. I have had little to no issues with any of these trees so far. Look forward to seeing them grow, produce and feed my habitat. These are four of the six trees that I purchased and planted this year. You can see how well they are doing filling out the tubes. We are having drought conditions here in Virginia so I stop by and give them a drink twice a week. Nothing added to the soil other than what has been recommended by Whitetail Hill Chestnut. I planted 100 trees in January. By March most had greened and make new leaves. We had a sudden freeze that appeared to have killed them all but they rallied and currently I have just six showing no signs of life. Some are growing much quicker than others, and will be at the top of their tubes by May. I’m going to fertilize this weekend. I’m looking forward to them being out of this fragile phase!

None of my friend live near our hunting properties. So you should schedule the delivery based on planting zip code not shipping zip code. The second thing is you should be able to pick between 2 or 3 ship dates. Spring break is a real issue and we got lucky w our schedule but the blind ship date is of concern on my future orders. Starts to leaf out good. I was worried one of them was about 2 weeks behind the others but it is now doing better than the first ones. Something keeps knocking over my cages and protective sleeve but so far it hasn’t affected the trees, I just keep fixing them. Not sure if it’s deer or bear I’ve had both on my cameras.

4/5 of them are doing great on my property in southern Arizona! They seem to be doing best in the sandy soil versus the clay on the hillsides. Hopefully they'll make it through our brutal summers!
