For my first couple of years in my smithy, I used a 75# Trenton anvil and it was a good starter anvil. However, I had no idea what a difference doubling the weight of an anvil had on moving steel. It literally "pushes back" on the steel more consistently. The way the anvil is dressed is perfect, too, and saved me a lot of effort. I just had to cut and level a stump and then mate the two. (I'm cheating for now by just using wood screws threw the board it came mounted to into the stump.)
