Just installed our R1 setup on the back of our van. Had to piece the mount and propane together from a few different vendors. This is our second HOWL . We also have the R4 … which is just too large for lugging around with the van. Can’t wait to road trip with the smaller R1! ☺️

It does indeed perform as advertised. It is somewhat a heavy drinker though…With medium settings and 4 nights of use (aprox. 2 to 3 hours each night) it pretty much wiped out a full 20 pound cylinder.
Still impressed with this little gem and looking forward to using it again soon.

We are loving the Howl R1. It’s built like a tank, throws off huge flames if you want it to or you can turn it down to a reasonable height and save fuel. It puts off a decent amount of heat as well. Best thing ever.!

I took it antelope hunting this Weeknd and used it for the first time. It did great in the wind and everyone was impressed and pretty sure you'll get at least one new order. My only comment is I was surprised at how black and sooty it got after using it. Not an issue at all, just didn't expect that from burning propane.

Absolutely love it! I have always been a wood fire only kinda guy due to gas fire pits being all looks and no heat. The howl R4 is an absolute beast that keeps us outside well into the night. The term “thigh melting heat” is no joke. Worth the price without question.
Burn bans are more and more common, having a safe and effective heat source like this is truly a game changer.

We took our brand new Howl to Stanley Lake this week. The Sawtooth National Forest is under a Stage 1 Fire Restriction, fires only in fire rings or propane fueled that can be turned off. We tested and learned our Howl the afternoon of our first day. Our first morning was a bit chilly, so we fired the unit and had breakfast by it.
Loved it! It took the chill off while providing a similar experience to a wood fire but without the hassle.

Just the right size for portability and very easy to set up and use. My R-1 model that I purchased gives off nice heat for a small gathering of people. I’m using it here on my back patio but, in just a few minutes I can I have it disconnected from the propane tank, packed up and loaded in my camper.

Great propane fire! Nice flames and very good heat. Had some difficulty hooking up to my tank, connection was very leaky. Tried reconnecting four time, all leaked-sometunes bad leaks. I reconnected the tank to my old cheesy fire pit and had no leaks. Then I reconnected to the Howl and had no leaks. I don't know what the problem was.

This is a great product. Is it worth the cost? It depends...do you want to actually feel warm sitting next to the fire? If so, then it is worth it. You cant beat a real wood fire, but the necessary burn bans really limit the options through the summer months. I did a side-by-side comparison of a real fire, a traditional propane fire, and the Howl R1 sharing my thoughts on the value of Howl.
