For quint tuning, actually, because of the difference in tension on the neck, the tuner will be needed on the D string to make sure it stays on pitch, because enough tension is let go on the E to C and A to G that the neck will flex pulling the D string sharp.

I got the Hipshot bridge for a Chinese EB-0 I'm hot rodding.When I tried to bolt it in the holes were on the bridge were too far apart. Maybe the 12 year old drilling the bridge mounting holes in the EB-0 body in China got it wrong as I've never seen this complaint in any of the revues I"ve read about the bridge. I put these on a 30'' custom bass made by a local luthier friend of mine. I really don't understand why this model is cheaper than A or B or D styles. Its is epic, solid, vibrant, resonant, durable, user friendly... I really like the extra mass on sides. looks good and solid. I know it as fact that you need some metal mass on both ends of the string for a good sustain and vibration transfer to and from the wood.

Great product. I've had this bridge on my Warmoth Tele for 3 years now and it works great. No edge lip to get in the way when finger picking. Has good weight for added sustain plus the brass saddles. I drilled 2 holes in the front edge and put in 2 screws to keep the bridge absolutely flat, this also helps with tone and sustain.
