The possible attacker will not be prepared for this noise and light and THAT is why I will carry it with me and feel safer. Not because people don't come running when they hear another alarm go off. You're throwing your attacker a curveball he's not expecting and this will give you time to either get away or profit in some other way from this. I bought two Birdies as Christmas gifts for my adult daughters and one for myself. They arrived quickly, and I tried mine right away. It’s so easy to use! The noise is LOUD and the light is annoying. I put it on my keychain which I clip to my belt loop when I go out. I hope I never need it, but I believe my daughters & I have an extra level of protection should the need arise. Thank you!
