Bought them for my granddaughters and one had a defect that I was informed was a rare happening. Not only is it compact but definitely emits a very loud "chriping" sound. I guess that's why the name is Birdie!! I bought the aqua color for myself and the pink for my daughter and one for my granddaughter. OH, and the led light certainly distracts the perpetrator. It's a Win Win in my book!! I'm a Birdie!!

My daughter was trying to activate the Birdie as she was making sure she knew how to use it. She activated the alarm, and then cancelled the alarm. Within 10-15 minutes the police were at our house for notification of a personal alarm. We explained why the alarm went off and showed him the device so he would know everything was okay. I was impressed by the response and feel good about her carrying it while she rides the train to dance in the city.
