I installed two smaller Birdies raised beds late last year as herb beds next to my established wooden raised beds. The new herb beds have been wonderful this year! Recently, the sides of my wooden beds started showing their age, so I bought large Birdies beds to replace them. As I get older and back problems become more of an issue, I decided to revamp my whole garden space and get the tall birdies beds. It's definitely been a process, especially assembling all the beds and filling them. We used up most of our wood pile to fill the bottom and used free wood chips to fill in the cracks. I’m in zone 8b and my largest gardening space receives only part sun. I discovered I can grow beans, peas and greens and a few squash so I invested in 4 garden beds. Living in a rainy wet area I’m looking forward to having garden beds that can endure the weather. Animals quickly dug up my smaller greens and I need to think about making a cover. Best Winter project - putting these together. SO much easier, than I expected - in the comfort of my nice warm house. It's January in Zone 7B - so not quite ready for garden time yet - but I will be ready shortly. So happy with the solid panels, beautiful color and depth of these tall ones. These beds are simply great! The picture shows a mid season 2020 picture of the 6-in-1 beds bought at the end of 2019. So the latest buy of 4 beds go to continue the rows of these beds against the back fence. The multiple configurations possible allow either these narrow arrangements or a squarer bed (the fifth bed that I ordered, put elsewhere in the veggie patch) depending on one's plans. This birdies 29” raised large bed is fantastic, ordering another right now. The quality, color, ease of putting together was good. Lots of bolts, but once you get in a groove and having an extra set of hands makes it very straight forward. The educational content that Kevin and Jacques has been creating over the years has been very inspirational. Assembly was annoying with 100 screws, washers, and nuts but I love these beds. I also wish they were about half the price as I would have gotten more of them this season to replace my old garden bed. The photo was the first day I planted but I've had them going for around a month now with leaf mould compost, freshly chipped mulch, and Microlife 8-4-6 organic fertilizer. We had a late season freeze that knocked back a lot of the peppers but everything is going good again and great results so far...

We purchased two of these beds after looking at them for some time and we absolutely love them. I've built my own beds in the past, but these are vastly superior to anything I've previously built and looked at online and in stores. Utilizing both this book and the advice from the Epic Gardening Youtube channel, my garden has greatly expanded and produces far more than it ever did. The tips, especially those involving container gardening, soil types, and Microgreens, were very informative and the images help the reader visually understand certain tips and tricks. I'm the granddaughter of depression era grandparents and the daughter of WWII parents. We grew Victory Gardens so I have been gardening for a long time, but Kevin's book has helped me become a better gardener. I love that the chapters are color coded so it makes it easier to find what I'm looking for. The chapter on raised beds alone is worth the whole book to me. This book has a great balance between pictures and words. I'm a visual/hands-on learner so whenever I run across a gardening book with a lot of color pictures, I'm stoked! (I feel strange saying that as I'm way too old...) And if you haven't checked out Kevin's other Epic Gardening social media accounts, do it!
