I used the 120 grit with my hand held belt sander (3 x 21 inch). Used it on black walnut and it did great. I like it better than some name brand I bought at the big box stores. In addition, Red Label Abrasives has them in stock!!

I have had issues with other brands sanding belts bouncing on the joints, and belt failure, red label XA 345 runs smooth and gives a very good finish. (I have been using it on end grain mahogany and Sapele.)

These ceramic belts are awesome! I was able to get all these knives roughed out with just 1 - 36grit using my little HF 1x30 sander. I will definitely be ordering these again.

Your ceramic belts last a lot longer than the orange brand. It cuts a lot longer and the aluminum oxide belts are awesome as well. Makes my job a lot easier.

Darn good belts. I managed to shape the handle of my first knife pretty seamlessly with the 80 grit ceramic belt, I then refined the finish by hand with sandpaper, but the belts did what they had to do very effectively. I also put the final edge on the knife with my RLA belts... sadly, I was using old worn belt to profile the grind and paid dearly for my impatience. For Knife #2 it's going to be 100% with red label belts!

My grit progression as a new maker is always changing. Recently I have been trying out all of the surface conditioning belts. They do a great job. The corse is great for removing rust on blade. All of the conditioning belts leave great surface finishes.

And being from California it’s difficult to find any blacksmith shops or even get some thing simple and specific like the grinding belts Red Label sells. I’d highly recommend you buy their belts!

I have not had any experience with belt grinders before, especially with anything as abrasive as an 80 grit media.
However, I was pleased with the ability of these belts to produce a clean grind and remove stock quickly and effectively.
I will be ordering from Red Label again for my 1x42" grinding belts for future knifemaking projects!

These 2 x 42 36grit belts make my Itty bitty Craftsman 2 x 42 feel much more powerful.
I went through my first belt in a day, and basically knocked out 5 neck knives from HARDENED files, these belts also RIP right through hardened sawblades and eat aluminum for breakfast.
For the longest time I thought all belts were created equal. It was on the advise of my Weld tech teacher that I try Red Label.
When my other 4 belts wear put I will be buying more.

Have used other 120 grit ceramic belts that I did not really like the way they performed. Love the way these belts grind, makes it easy to make clean bevels when cleaning up hollow grinds. Will but again.

Bought some 36 and 80 grit belts and then got into a fight with it. Knuckles are worse for wear, but I showed them whose boss. Even used them to take a file into what is supposed to be a knife, though the jury is still out. Excited to try some ceramic belts next. And improve my technique so my bevels don’t look like butt.
