Heard about these pencils by the colorists in UTUBE. Part of the appeal besides the pencils is that they come in with a pencil case and 4 small paper pads (sketch). I do not get the order the color swatch tester is. One thing though is the strong smell of these pencils, not appealing at all. Is being a while now and I still have them out and open to air. But over all they do blend very nice and the colors are vibrant.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the CA Gold pencils. They are a hard pencil with a slight softness to them. I am particularly happy with the level of pigment I was able to get(skirt). The barrels of the pencil in no way match the actual color of the lead. You must swatch (I suggest large swatches) in order to really see the color/tones. the pencils are smooth for coloring, the colors are beautiful ray of colors, I have gotten 3 sets, I really wish that you could buy just the color pencils of the ones you use the most, I use a lot of the different greens, I would like to be able to replace then. I have had my 120 Soft Touch set for almost 2 years, and ashamedly I've been very frugal with them. I acquired the Pastel Tint set when they first came out, and now I finally was able to purchase the metallics. I absolutely love these pencils! I no longer "save" them because they are so much fun to use. I'm a beginner at coloring, so I appreciate the way these pencils blend. I would recommend them to anyone.

It is a very good set of color pencils. I really like the smoothness, blending works great, they hold the point pretty well. The brightness of colors is overall just a bit tiny less than some artist grade, also some colors are very similar to each other so I guess a set of 120 is really around 110 distinctive colors. I have two sets of pens actually two from Castle Arts and one from a high price major brand, but its the Castle that I alway go to ...they seem to be better..just better color, true to the color and very glittery....my only beef against them is NO NAME OF THE COLOR ON THE BARREL OF THE PEN...that is so fu*king irritating for a dude that is 74 years old and has one eye to see with, and trying to find a color red ...please add the names of the colors PLEASE ...otherwise your pens are great

I love my Soft Touch pencils. They go down smooth and blend well. I can use a colorless blending pencil or a colorless pen. They both work well. I also love the fact the colors are labeled as I am color blind. Labels make creating so much easier. The only thing I would suggest is please consider selling pencils in singles. This would help when certain colors need to be replaced and would cut out the need to buy whole sets for one color.

I love these pastels. I bought the set for myself and then got another set as a gift. I didn't mind because I love the colors and I know I will be using them a lot. I have had no problem with the wood or the core of the pencil when sharpening. I can honestly say that I love Castle colored pencils.

Wow, oh wow! For the price, I truly didn't think I was going to get much pigment and quality. Boi, was I wrong. I wanted to test the fading from one color into another the blending is absolutely amazing. So I took it a step further and tried it out to see if it would transfer into a watercolor like my other named brand colored pencils do, and they do they blended so beautifully with the color blending you still get the darker fading into the lighter.
