The colors are absolutely beautiful. I combine colored pencils with my watercolor paintings. I mostly paint the ocean and the meadow lands on the east coast. I live in North Carolina. I found the Castle Art brand at Amazon. I tried it and found it to be quality at a hreat price. I bought this set to have a large collection of watercolor pencils to use in mixed media work The colors are vivid and they react to the water very well. The selection is the best part of it. I absolutely love these so far. They’re some of the best handling color pencils I’ve used, definitely makes it up there with the likes of Prismacolor for me, but at a much better cost to pencil ratio.

The colors of these pencils are lovely. However, they are all very subdued and muted colors. No reds, no pinks, no brights, with the exception of an orange. And the purples (which are the majority of the shades) are almost indistinguishable from each other on paper. At least the paper I have been using. My suggestion would be to keep the shades you have, and add some reds, pinks, brights, and just a touch more of a metallic sheen.
