I bought them for myself. I draw and doodle alot and go through pencils and paper. The large assortment is really nice. They seem like a quality pencil. I am excited to use them. My only draw back is I hope that they are not hard to sharpen. I have 3 other brands and are hard to sharpen, the lead breaks, or you waste 1/2 a pencil because the lead keeps breaking whilst sharpening.

I asked one of our best colorists in our Facebook group about colors to supplement my Prismacolors and Polychromos. She recommended the Soft Castle Arts because they colored similar to the Prismacolors and were not very expensive. Great colored pencils for the price! I now have a bigger selection of hues of colors! I made a color chart including all 3 types of pencils. I love having a larger selection!

In contrast to the Christmas coloring book, the Flowers coloring book was carefully packaged in a cardboard carton with padding all around. As a result it came in pristine condition! The designs are nicely drawn with reference photos in the front to get you started on color selection and shading. Well thought out and executed.

This color palette does have a bit of a learning curve with it. Because the colors are so muted you have to press fairly hard to get more intense coloration, however these pencils just want to blend. If you use a blending pencil, be soft with it and slowly increase pressure. I went in on these a little too hard and actually removed some of the colors from the page (so I guess some of these shades are correctable, not all lift off the page though). That being said, you'd probably be perfectly fin...
