I love the gloves and I bought a pair for my son (welder and pipe fitter). My only issue, I have pre skin cancer on the back of my hands and I get that stuff frozen off every year. The elastic on the glove rubs right where I had “stuff” burned off and hurts like hell. I used a stitch cutter and took the elastic off of the left glove. Much better. These are fantastic gloves. I treated them with the recommended leather conditioner upon receipt and went to work the next day in them. The break-in was minimal, and the seams and excess (I have narrow fingers) all found out-of-the-way places to go that weren’t a bother to dexterity or grip. A tight grip around axe handles and the like is so easy, and, for once, I don’t feel like I’m trying to baby my gloves or wait for the hole to develop! I’ve only worn these gloves for a little over a month so they’re just now broken in, but I have to say these are exactly what I’ve been looking for. The quality of craftsmanship and material is outstanding. The leather is thick for protection and durability, but yet they fit like a second layer of skin and have remarkable dexterity. The construction of these gloves is special in ways that are hard to understand until you put one on. Between careful leather selection and perfect seam placement, the fingertips are incredibly tactile even with the extra reinforcing strip. I use these in conjunction with other thermal gloves to help negate wind when gathering cattle on horseback or hunting stationary. Anything where little movement affects hands quickly. It took me a long time to commit to the price of these gloves. I'm not disappointed. First, they are thicker than I expected. The interior leather is velvety smooth. They are very comfortable, actually comforting. As thick as they are, you have pretty good dexterity. I use them on my farm everyday. I mostly wear them while chainsawmilling. The newly revised, Vermont Glove SIZING CHART is a keeper ! That handy, turquoise dot now shows EXACTLY where to plunk down the pencil-eraser ‘gauge’ on the cartoon, hand silhouette. I quickly realized I had been unwittingly CHEATING the chart by sliding my hand ever so slightly upward… covering the purple ‘warning track’ & putting my gloveless mitt way out there in uncontested MEDIUM finger territory !
