The level of detail in this build was truly astounding. She had to wrap each book with its book jacket and assemble each piece of furniture. I’m a professional NYC model maker for 20 some years so I’ve got a super critical eye. I think the model rates about 90 percent excellent. Where it falls short is the sticky backed leather and brass trim. I ended up gluing the leather pieces , the adhesive was sub par, and the brass trim had about a 50 percent adhesive strength making it necessary to burnish constantly Also instructions need to be totally revamped. What a wonderful kit! Pieces fit together so precisely that often you can press-fit things without glue. Really proud to have this on my bookshelf. I made a few changes. The thing that really bothered me was that looking at it head on, the tabs of the outer box were distracting, so I cut them flush and made a frame of strip bass wood that covers them. This is the first time I've tried a project like this. The piece is incredibly detailed and layered -- there are so many tiny things in this scene! Everything is beautifully made. Not difficult to glue and put together, but follow the directions carefully and be sure that building elements are in just the right places so that pieces fit together at the end.
