Every week I play in a bluegrass band at our local farmers market. I purchased the spoons to add a percussive element to our jam sessions. They work perfectly! Practice does make perfect, however, I found that the learning curve was not very steep. These are well made and finished and feel comfortable in the hand. The sound quality is great with just the right amount of "click" or "thump" depending on your technique. The quality is fantastic, and you just want to hold them. They are very tactile smooth and obviously good wood. The sound of them is excellent and as a total beginner I really enjoy them. When I saw the advert I just loved the concept of the spoons and the tune just made me happy. I am not at all musical but felt I had to have a go. My spoons came in good time and I wasted no time in getting them out of the box. Although I’m probably better doing it on my own I absolutely love playing these spoons. The notes are so crisp and it doesn’t take long to master a pleasing rythem. The spoons are extremely well made and I am so pleased I ordered them. Good work lads.

I got the large spoons in black, and it's a really striking instrument, really beautifully built. The large spoons are a little larger than I imagined, about the size of serving spoons, but they're very light and feel good in the hand. They're quite loud and resonant, and the cup shapes on the top and bottom let you get different types of timbres out of them. I'm going to get a matching black pair of medium spoons for the higher pitches, and maybe even a small pair as well.

I've only had my spoons for a couple of weeks and as yet have not got into playing them apart from following the first video. I will say though the are beautiful to look at the finish is perfect and the do sound pretty good. Hopefully I'll practice and become a Maestro! This was such a fun Holiday gift not only for my son who is a musician but for everyone and anyone wanting to play (for us that was 20-35 year olds and the over 60 crowd). Beautifully crafted and simple to use. Added bonus: doesn't take up a lot of space, so great for apartment dwellers who want to create music but don't have room for bongos or larger instruments.
