I ordered this with the intention to turn it into a keepsake box. It arrived in excellent condition. Boards were straight without warpage. I admit I don’t have much experience with koa, but the koa from Exotic Wood Zone looked different from koa I have previously, a bit reddish and lighter colored than koa I have seen before. The boards had a grain pattern that was quite attractive. There was an iridescence that is present in other koa I’ve worked with. Would order again.

I made this to see what the wood from Exotic Wood Zone was like, with the intention to make some keepsake boxes. The Granadillo I ordered arrived in excellent condition. As expected it will need some sanding. Boards were nice and straight without any warping. Color was dark brown with black streaks. Very attractive pieces of wood. Would order this again, but perhaps after trying some of their other woods.

I ordered a couple of plantation mahogany back and sides. As stated in the ad they were 2nds and would have some knots. They did, but I think they add character. One of the side sets had drying split that made it unusable for a side, I contacted exoticwoodzone and they replaced it immediately. No charge. Great customer support. The pictures shows the sides bent for a J45 style acoustic guitar. They bent well and did not crack. I would buy again.

Received 4" bowl blank in good condition. 1st step: rounding blank on bandsaw. (Noticed some granularity) Wood turned nicely using gauges and scrapers. Sanding at high speed from 100 grit to 1500 grit produced a smooth shiny surface. Finishing with Shellawax produced a beautiful finished bowl. (Note: the small granularity patches proved a challenge, but nothing I have not encountered before) I look forward to trying more diverse "exotic" woods" in the future.

The rosewood was exactly as I expected, true to the pics and description. Shipped out immediately, and arrived almost exactly flat and straight (it's wood, things happen :-) )! The only issue lately is that shipping costs are proving to be deal killers, and that's true in every industry. I'm going to have to locally source what I can find for a while until the summer shipping slows down. Paying half again what the materials cost puts my margin at zero fast, no matter how gorgeous the wood is.

The 4 bowl blanks arrived in good condition. There was a substantial delay with the UPS delivery (Emergency conditions ?)Each blank was marked in chalk as to the wood type (Thank You!). The only recommendation that I may suggest is that as more "permanent" sticker of permanent marker be used for the label. The chalk "vibrated/scuffed off" during shipment (Barely readable), however an adequate id was possible. Again, thank you for your accommodation in wood id.

This plantation mahogany back will be used for a j45 style build. These pictures are after I glued them together and ran them through the drum sander. These are 2nd’s, I knew they had knots and such, but as you can see in the picture, the book matched knots add some character.

Very nice quality maple, walnut and cherry. Boards came surfaced on all 4 sides and true to size. Only slight downfall is I noticed some planer snipe on some of the sides, so it did require a little trimming to get a perfect straight edge, however it was very minimal material lost. Would definitely order again!
