The Mini K-47x sounds warm yet it can cut through the mix. Warm but not bass-y. Great at creating a singular sonic picture as opposed to some mics where you almost get the highs and lows as distinct pictures. Use on cabs for heavy fuzz. It’s the first pick for mandolin and ukulele. Great on acoustic guitar. I like it both through my 1073 and my clean preamps.

When you want a microphone to tell the honest truth without coloring or hyping the sound, the Mini K-87 retains the best qualities of your instrument or voice. It has a very full and even balance. Acoustic guitar sounds big. Great for any genre. Never have to worry about sibilance. Provides a lovely modern and detailed sound. Beats other 87s I've heard that cost much more. I love the innovative shockmount that lets you place it as close as you need it. It's hand-made in California.

I love this mic! This is my second mic from Roswell. My first one is a mini K67x, which I enjoys a lot. I mainly used it to record my guzheng instrument. It has a sweet character, and the overtones are very nice. The Colares definitely sounds bigger than the mini K67x. It sounds fuller and has more depth. The tone is very rich and warm.

I recently purchased my 2nd mini k-47 mic. After 2 years of using this mic on vocals, acoustic guitar, voice over, and mono drum overhead, I found it to be reliable on capturing the source quite well. To my ears, there is a bit of weight or thickness I can get when capturing voices or sources that may be thinner sounding with this mic without all the extra muddiness or boxy midrange . Did a personal shoot out between my mk47 and a Dachman, and although I still might purchase a Dachman in the future, the Mk47 won-out in versatility of sound for cab recording, vocals, voice over — you name it. Only thing I wish it came with was the carrying case — they were out of stock when I bought it. Would love to find a way to still get that :) Great mic — I made the right choice. I finally got a chance to use the mic in a session with a good friend and amazing female vocalist, who fronts the SF CA cover band PopRocks SF. The absolute highest standard in the industry, supported by Chris clear depth and overall wide spectrum of eyes medium pitch Lowe's and even false vocal manipulation like inverted singing and screaming. I love how the intensifying vocal switch can reduce or decline the overall intake of sound, which is great for quiet whispering or with a flip of a switch into scream vocal arrangements.

I bought this mic because I wanted something neutral and un-hyped for audiobook narration. I had been using a Shure KSM44a, which is a super mic, but has a bit of a presence boost (like so many modern mics) that didn't play well with my sibilance. The mini-K87 not only tames my sibilance, thus requiring less processing (EQ, de-essing) but also has a beefier, thicker midrange that works well with my voice. I'm really happy with this mic!

Really loving this mic, only had it for few weeks but it is defiantly holding it's own and is quickly moving into being one of my workhorse mic's. Acoustic guitar, Vocals, Electric guitar cab, everything it goes on really shines. Plus put it through a good Pre-amp 1073 or 512 and WOW. Yep you really need to check the Delphos II out!
