First time using a ferro stick, i was very impressed with its performance. I have a little spot i go to in the woods to get away from everything and had a chance to use it. Only took two strikes to get a fire going. I was like a kid in a candy store. Put a big smile on my face. Wish I took my phone but usually keep it home when I'm in the woods. I have stopped carrying a lighter or matches since discovering the tindar wick and bellow three or four years ago. When paired with any device that produces a spark, this is more reliable and more practical in any fire starting situation.
