I planted 8 varieties of tomatoes this year in my small container garden in Chicago. These are the most beautiful non-peony style poppies I’ve ever grown! A kaleidoscopic variety of reds, purples, pinks, and greys. Tried growing these in 2022 with no success. This year, 2023, seeds from the same packet sprouted and thrived. Difference was starting seeds in 4-inch pots instead of tiny peat pots; this plant needs room and plenty of water to get going. Planted them out in early June and they went nuts. Jacques was right to push for BI to offer this variety. :) This is a very good spinach substitute in the summer. It's better-tasting and more spinach-like when you harvest leaves at a smaller size, but even the bigger leaves lack the usual "earthy" flavor that turns a lot of people off of Swiss chard. My only critique is that it tends to bolt faster in 90+ F temps than other chard varieties that reliably stand all summer long, so it's definitely a plant that you should succession-sow or transpla...
