best yet. getting feathers in areas that have not had feathers in years. Keko is an African Gray, 35 years old and a life-long picker. After years of effort with the vet, I had given up. With the plastic collars the feathers grew back, but she sat like a toy bird. I could have a miserable bird with feathers or a happy naked bird. A couple years ago I found another brand of poncho which helped some. this fringy collar is helping more than anything else we've used. It's stiff enough to protect win...

Smart bird My Goffins is too smart. She figured how to rip off the Velcro ones. The slip on helped train her that the collars are ok. Now I can use the Velcro ones also depending on her needs.

Great Value I used a similar product many years ago with my now 32 year old African Grey. Recently, our vet again recommended using red palm oil. I paid more for one ounce from the vet than I did for five ounces at birdsupplies.com. My grey is a very picky eater, but seems to like it. As others have written, it is too early for substantial results. However, birdsupplies.com made it easy to order and shipped quickly...very good customer service!

Plucking Blue throat Macaw I have been using these for years. They are very good but, sometimes we forget how smart our birds are. Mine can take a Velcro collar off in under 10 seconds! The new stretchy poncho was the answer to that. For now. Just wish I could stop her from this habbit.

Umbrella Cockatoo We are traveling with our UC for the Summer. We've had our little girl since she was a baby and is now 30. Plucking has always been an issue as we were both working and she was alone. I have tried everything for 30 yrs to manage the plucking. Nothing has really worked until the velcro collar. I was frustrated during our travel and started researching collars when I found Bird Supplies. I called and spoke with Deb about my situation. Her recommendation was the Velcro collar so ...

Perfect! These collars are the perfect solution for a bird that’s plucking. I’ve never seen anything quite like them - what a wonderful alternative to medicating your bird. Most of the ‘calming’ supplements I’ve tried do not stop picking behavior. Depending on the type of bird, it can be a challenge to get the collar on, but it just means they need more time. My African Grey is very hesitant to get close to it but my Senegal wanted to carry it around!! The collars are beautifully made; anyo...

Second collar I have a conure who bites her toes After going to two vets w no help I ordered a collar which he wore for several months. Then he was able to go without the collar for a long time until she lates an egg and became nervous again. She’s fine now with her new collar. Expect we can remove it soon. Expensive but worth it. Very well made

This collar has helped tremendously. We have a Galah cockatoo who after wearing the collar for approximately 3 weeks is now growing feathers again. I liked that the actual collar is soft around the neck so it allows the bird to move to still preen and eat easily but does still cover her enough. We did have to trim up the front of the collar as it hung just a bit too long and she was stepping on it. Otherwise, a great product, I highly recommend.

Saf-T Shield Bird E-Collar the collar fits our Goffin cockatoo great. she had plucked herself almost completely featherless putting herself in real danger of bleeding to death or freezing. she now has almost all her feathers back. even though she did chew at the shield it was still very durable

This is a very well made collar, but it (a medium size) was a bit large for my small female Soloman Island Eclectus. I think a small would have been too small. It's a real improvement on the older stiff collar..

My cockatoo thinks she is special because she gets to wear fleece poncho. I tell her how pretty she is. It slips on easy and keeps her cozy since she has picked a lot of feathers. I believe it helps reduce some of her chewing feathers and over preening. She has about a half dozen ponchos to wear.

Large size collar I put the collar on and the cape at the same time but my macaw of course hated it and had a tough time standing. I took the cape off and just left the collar on but the next morning he had removed it. So afar I have not put it back on but it appears he is not pulling his feathers again..maybe the threat alone was enough. We will see. I do want to address the great customer service I received from this company. The box came in from the post office damaged and missing parts and ...

UnRuffled RX Fleece Bird Collar/Velcro Closure Our Umbrella Cockatoo is a moderate plucker. When we discovered the Fleece Collar with the soft leather, it was a blessing. Our bird went from almost bald to having feather growth within a matter of weeks. While successful, the collar is heavy around her neck; so when we saw that a fleece collar with velcro was available, we immediately tried one. What a difference!!! Our little girl now has much more freedom of movement, and there is no chang...

Getting Bird to wear it Beautifully made and designed. I am just starting to adjust the neck closure so that I don't feel I am choking the bird. I can't tell whether I have tightened it too much. If it is too loose, the bird can grab the flaps and chew holes in it. So I have to experiment with the velcro and how much to close it. I am also giving her (palm oil, avicalm, bee pollen,) !She hasn't improved her plucking, except I notice with the avicalm she does not become frenetic. So I am in ...

Very thankful for this collar! Our feather picking African gray begins self mutilation every moulting season when tail feathers appear. This collar allows us to stop the behavior immediately, keeping the bird safe and out of the vet's office. She can easily get around the plastic collars. This collar is easy to put on, and the ruffles keep the bird occupied. We do have to get a new one every year, because she eventually works her way through the Velcro.

Best yet. We tried all the styles offered for my African gray. A determined, life-long pluck-er, she is able to get her wings over the unruffled styles and reach neck feathers with the slip on style. This FRINGY COLLAR is stiff enough on the bottom layer that she rarely gets her wing over it. The ruffle around the neck protects chest, vent and tail areas. She is getting used to the weight of it and the amount of feather regrowth is impressive.

Wonder stuff Since many months, we are trying to find something that will help our grey parrot to heal her wounds caused by feather picking under the wing - so far without any success and I did not expect to write it hear but we used that spray and without a bit more than a month, the wounds have gone and her skin looks brilliant. You really should get that product on the German market!!! Thank you!

PEACE & QUIET Our two Umbrella Cockatoos were screaming and plucking feathers and generally not good parrots. My wife was even bitten by the male on routine interaction. The calming formula worked miracles and the birds are more friendly and quiet. They are sleeping through the night. Perhaps a review of the recommended dose would be helpful, I fear we're over medicating our birds. We'll try half dose and see the results. The products works well and we saw extraordinary results so far. W...

Genius My parrot loves it. Effective, fun, not stressful. My boy has a wound that needs time to heal. So grateful that our vet had these in stock...a world beyond the stressful xray film collars of days gone by. He took to it right away, and has been smiling ever since. Thank you.

Can actually still reach her spots to pull her feathers this is actually a very nice alternative to the collar of shame .. it gives her a little break but I have to make sure I actually watch her as she is quite intelligent and has already figured out how to manipulate me and tried to make me feel sorry for her .Diane has been very helpful in getting me the stuff that I need very fast so there is no lag time for m...

Huggable tube collar I love it! I used to put the ponchos on my African Grey. They helped. But these tube collars are great! He loves them! His feathers are growing back! I recommend them! They may be a bit to large for my African Greys neck.. but it works! He moves the velcro to the front of him!

Works Well I purchased this for my Goffin Cockatoo who had a chest injury. He was unable to open the snaps. Please know you may have to buy multiple of this product though, because those little beaks do damage to the cone when they pick at the neck area. Mine lasted about two weeks before I ordered a new one. And as with any cone, my little guys movement was limited so all perches, bowls and toys were put on one level for him to get to. A good temporary solution.

Excellent Product This one fit the bill.. The first one I ordered did not have the turtleneck and she chewed it up right away. When I ordered this one with the turtleneck collar she was unable to continue mutilating herself and her self inflicted wounds are healing nicely.

The Feather Saver I've been using these for a while now and I have found for my bird to use the fleece only collar during the regular part of the year. This is light enough for maximum mobility. My female blue throated macaw has adapted exceptionally well with this type. When it's her mating season though, I switch to the fleece with leather collar for additional protection. If I don't have anything on. Within a day her chest would be bare. I love them. Only complaint is Velcro MUST be quadrupl...

Before i try the collar I decided to try the sprays to reduce the itchiness I saw in the bird which resulted in pulling out his feathers.
