So far so good My Panama Amazon has had a serious on-and-off off mutilating problem for most of her 14 years. Sometime she merely plucks but sometimes she just can’t stop herself and does serious damage to her legs and feet. At this point I could even live with the plucking if she would just not hurt herself until she bleeds. I was so thrilled to see that someone is finally providing a product after so many fruitless searches over the years. I extended the Desensitization period to more th...

slip on collar I took about a week to get my umbrella cockatoo used to seeing and touching the slip on collar. I put it on her today and she has started chewing it up. I'm not sure how long it will last.

Perfect fit and cute! My female Eclectus picked all of her neck feathers out and a few thin patchy areas under her wings trying to nest. With the advice from Diane at Bird Supplies, we ordered the large knit cuff poncho. It fits terrific. I did have to trim the poncho to keep her from stepping on it. It took a couple days for her to get used to wearing it, but she can now maneuver herself around the cage. I received a grey poncho with white polka dots and I love it. It looks cute on my re...

I've used other products to help relieve my cockatiel's itching. This is much better. The spray comes out as a fine mist, which seems much more comfortable for him. The results are much faster in calming him. Thanks!

use it on our moluccan cockatoo who like to chew on herself. We have used SEVERAL brands and designs. This is close to impossible for her to get to her wounds. Her spot was on her back, a tail amputation helped with that but now it is on her chest. She cant get around it due to the ridged construction. We have a light cloth one underneath so she can see that and know where it is, we thought keeping it clear might mess with her. this works for us.

Jeanie
Sure would have helped me if I had instructions for applying the vest. I looked all over the website and watched the video but found no help at all. Poor bird suffered through the learning experience. I really feel badly for her because the vest is so long she can no longer use her feet to feed herself and I need to hand-feed her. She did manage to chew a hole through the Kevlar vest. Not good! All in all though, she has not further mutilated the lesion on her keel bone since applying the clothi...

The neck edge on the collar was quickly chewed by my bird. I managed to sew a 1/2" soft fabric collar over it and it's much better now. Also some snaps do not align right and I put duct tape to make sure the one neck snap stays closed. The collar has kept her from further chewing.

Love this. I had bought an XL for my Moluccan but I believe large would be even better - at least for mine cause he’s a neck mutilator.

The product itself is amazing and so adorable.. but she still finds it necessary to bite through and tear up the felt fringes.. it’s been just over a week and 1/2 of the fringes are gone. What do you do then?

The pattern was easy to use and the instructions clear and easy to follow! I got the small but I had to alter it a lot to fit my Caique parrot, I made the neck opening slightly larger and I made the collar so it fanned out only half the size of the pattern. My parrot couldn’t walk without tripping over it at the normal size. But even at half size it keeps him from being able to reach his feathers. I also discovered that if I put it on him upside down (so the fanned out part is under the stiffer ...

It is still early to say this is a cure for my sulfur crested cockatoo’s feather plucking. He definitely looked like a plucked chicken even with all I tried before. The vet didn’t help either. I was actually thinking a new home might be best for him. Now, received good advice from those at bird supplies and I have high hopes this will work for him. Gone back to pellet feeding and chop, using the spray and getting more sleep time. He has chest feathers growing again and he doesn’t seem like ...

My cockatoo, Doddie, is the worst eater....has the worst diet! His former owners did not give healthy people food, as in fruits & veggies. These supplements have given him "a new lease on life"! More energy and an overall healthy diet. Thank you for this product!

My bird (Bourke's parakeet) has never plucked, but he's getting older and I thought this might be a nice treat for dry winter months. So far, so good. The actual bottle is a great size and high quality to boot..

I don’t know if adding the greens will help with my Greenwing Macaw’s plucking or not but adding it to a teaspoon or so of baby food is at least getting some green stuff in him.

My bird loves these (green cheek conure). She is 19yrs old with arthritis and bone spurs. In addition to being on gabapentin for pain, my vet suggested upping her intake of omega-3 for joint support and these hemp seeds are great for that alone but have other nutritional benefits. She does best on the med in addition with the hemp seeds. My bird's plucking has reduced greatly, to the point that her patchy spots are filling in. I give them to her as a treat and before going to sleep (staying with...

I recently purchased the aloe Vera spray and it works way better than expected. My white pigeon got into some olive oil and it stained her yellow, leaving her feathers bedraggled and smelly. She is able to preen them clean now, and after several baths I used this spray. She looks shiny and fluffy again :)

I looked for the product because I work with wild birds. I frequently get birds that need to be bathed after contact with oil or soot. (woodpeckers are notorious for going down chimneys.) After the cleansing bath/shower, using good soap, the natural oils that keep the birds' feathers waterproof is gone, and we have to either replace it or wait several weeks while the bird slowly works at preening, even then missing important areas, like the head and the back of the neck. This product works reall...

I purchased this for my daughters Amazon parrot. Her vet recommended red palm oil for overall health. I googled it and came across it on birdsupplies.com. The item arrived pretty quickly and in good condition. The price was reasonable too. She (parrot) really likes it. She's even eating more veggies now because my daughter will rub a little of it onto her food. Great product!

My 'Conure' named herself 'BB' & will be (9 yrs in Feb). Periodically throughout her life she had the usual 'molting' & 'hormonal' reaction. She only 'preens' as good maintenance, never extreme. However 'BB' has always demonstrated 'panic flights' & a general 'nervousness.' This 'calming medicine' does quiet her to some degree as just started using ( 1/2 dose in 4ozs) of water for small birds. I would recommend it to others as she is responding well to it.

We've used the hard plastic collar from the vet. My Grey chewed off the the rubber cushion around the neck and the plastic cut her neck. I tried soft collars. They are expensive and she ruins them in 1 night. I tried the leather collars and they worked the best and lasted the longest but I couldn't break her from using it once the surgery under her wing was fully healed and feathered. So when I saw the "turtle neck" collar, I decided to try it. So far it looks like it might be the answer to my d...

Thanks to Diane my bird is getting the right nutrients and the right food. She appeared to be healing very well and the plucking subsided however after a week or so she was back to plucking another area. It was a full body molt. Extremely stressful for the bird. I have been using feather up Hastings bird food and vitae z mist. He seemed to have positive results but the plucking continues to some degree. Diane was super helpful. I read that if poop sticks to the Birds butt that it can be a sign t...

This is my 3rd collar and I've used the vest. My cockatoos feathers are coming back in nicely. She's not plucking as badly as she was. She will eventually chew through or manage to chew off the Velcro, but it lasts better than any other collar out there. I think it keeps her warmer to. She actually likes wearing it.

I learned so much during my behavioral consultation with Diane. Chester suffers from separation anxiety when I had to return to the office after working from home for 2 years. She explained about nutrition and adding fruits and veggies and different ways to incorporate them into Chester's diet. Worked out a plan to get Chester up to 10-12 hours of sleep. Prior to this consultation I felt frustrated and nowhere to turn. My vet said the problem was behavioral and to puta collar and give medic...

My treasured parakeet Alex has had two serious infections (and THREE hospitalizations) in the past five months. I thank my lucky stars for each day that he is alive but he has developed a bad habit -- feather plucking, possibly as a result of all of the changes and trauma which he has undergone. Your product seems to help a bit and I am so glad that I found it. Thank you.

Pay special attention to the shipping guarantee and time zones if you're going to pay for premium shipping. Response time with product questions was initially slow, but the feedback I did get was helpful. The product is what you'd expect. My vet was part of my issues but the sizing chart seems to be okay. Would I buy from this company again? Yes. They are a good company with decent products.
