I have not tried, but this winter I will use one in my wood stove to see how well it works. I opened a bag and there is no odor which is nice. Can't wait to see how they work, but if they work as well as the lighter...probably work very well.

These are a pyromaniac's wildest dream come true. Not traceable and almost guaranteed to ignite anything that will burn. A couple of sparks from a dead BIC lighter and away we go. No more squatting down in front of the wood burner trying to get a fire started. Light one of these and shove it under a few pieces of kindling and walk away.

I can't review these Firestarters because they were purchased as Christmas gifts for family hikers who won't be hiking now until next spring or summer. I'm sure they will be happy to receive them for future use. I was very happy with how quickly they arrived. Thank you. This stuff is the real deal! I have not actually started any campfires yet, but I did (of course!) get it out and played with it for a bit. The lighter is pretty cool, started the firestarter really easy. I also got the rod out and played with it too. Once I got the black stuff off, and after a little practice, I was able to throw a huge shower of sparks at the fuel, and it lit right away! I've already started distributing it to my various bug-out bags. I will be prepared.

This book is short and to the point. None of the "this happened to me x years ago" etc. No stupid stories that do not really relate. Definitely recommend if your just learning, refreshing ,having in pack as reference.

I’ve been using the Black Beard ‘ropes’ for a couple of years now. They’ve never let me down. When i recently went to re-up i noticed the new Fire Plugs so i figured I’d give them a shot. Super easy to use. Convenient 1 use application means you no longer have to cut down a chunk of rope. Just snap them and light them. Black Beard fire starters are bad ass! I haven't started a proper fire with them yet, but just had to play with my set in the backyard (safely), like I'm sure many others did as soon as they received their packages. I've never used a ferro rod before in my life and was able to get a plug lit with three strikes of the Black Beard rod. I can't wait for my next camping trip!

This stuff really does work pretty amazing. It has a long burn time when youre trying to light wet or damn wood. I bought 1 stick, 2 years ago. I camp as much as I possibly can, and heat my home with wood heat. And i JUST ran out of that 1st stick. Will order more

These work great. I ripped a 1/4 of one off, soaked it in a bottle of water for about 2hrs and ripped it apart and it lit right up. I would definitely recommend these .

Like everything else that Blackbeard has, the Fire Plugs are nothing short of amazing. One strike from my ferro rod, and it's lit. I live in South Florida, where everything is wet all the time, and I never have to worry about not having fire.

While not as compact as the blackbeard rope, these single-use pieces don't require much in the way of prep effort or time... and most importantly, no sharp tools ;) These little nuggets are hands down my preferred format, and they work exceptionally well.
