I bought these to keep in my pack for emergency use. First, I was surprised by how pleasant they smelled. Then, I was quite pleased with how they worked. I started a fire in damp conditions with nothing added but kindling and this. It burned as it said it would, for a good 5-10 minutes. Plenty of time to get a fire going well.

These thick ferro rods are awesome for those of us who are older and starting to have issues with our hands. Sparks are nice and large. Lights those Bigfoot plugs like it means business. The striker has a multitude of other functions including ability to be used as a wrench or measuring tool. But nobody cares about that...they know it makes serious fire.

I haven't tried the product yet. But it definitely looks like a solid fire starter. I also got the tin to go with it. I doubt I will use the tin when I'm on walkabout. But it's still cool to have. Great for emergencies. Ordered one for each of my cars and home in the country to use for emergencies. Never used a flint type system to start a fire and it was very easy. Use the starter to light a bonfire and work when it was very breezy. Great product and I highly endorse it.

Saw these on a documentary in Alaska. They worked really well so I had some friends heading up for a hunt and I thought they should have some in their packs! Very generous amount of plugs in a resealable bag. Plenty to mess with and get used to how they work..although ya don't really need to cuz they are simple. Snap it...roll it and once ya get a spark near it watch out cuz you got a flame for about 5 mins burning high and strong and a smaller coal for another two minutes after that. Just buy em. They are worth it.

It was as advertised! I figured I was gonna have to waste a few pellets trying to light with the ferro rod and striker. Not so. I followed instructions and scratched the black paint off the rod, and on the 3rd strike I drew a big spark and that plug lit right up. Also as advertised it burns for 5+ minutes. Bigfoot Bushcraft has found a permanent home in all of my survival packs!
