I bought the fire starter plugs and the Firefly ferro rods as a backup to a lighter for camping. I haven’t camped with them yet, but I did practice at home. It takes some practice to hold the ferro rod correctly and you have to choose a nice hard, fairly sharp, steel item (back of knife in tiny pocket knife works) to get a spark. Starting a fire with the wax-imbued plugs is pretty easy. I like these items, but maybe they’re a bit gimmicky? I’m glad I have them though,and I’ll take them camping...
