Very impressed to see these start up after submerged in water for quite a while. Although my tin took on a small amount of water while submerged it did hold up when left out in the rain overnight. As an ultralight backpacker these will be perfect for my pack and for bugout kit. Perfect gift for the outdoor enthusiast.

After nearly giving up on fire plugs, CFP at Survival Living showed me these. They worked far better than the ones I currently had. I was able to start a fire with mostly damp shavings and twigs. With the Florida rainy season coming, I ordered 4 tins, and put them in all of our bags. Another level of security never hurts.

After watching several 'reviews' online, I tried them myself. First strike with a ferro rod - every time. Only seven fit in the flat tins, so I split some down the middle to make it into 14 lights per tin - not being cheap, just don't need more than half to get even stubborn kindling alight. I need to order another bag of 80 to distribute them throughout all the go-bags for the family!

This is exactly what I was looking for. Burns longer than paper or cardboard (for kindling) and gives even slightly damp wood a chance to catch. Followed directions and burn time was over 5 minutes. Bonus, they don’t have an odor one would expect with fire starter. Super happy with this purchase.

Just tried this. It just so happened that we had a rain storm so I figured what the hell, let's go make fire. Wish I would have taken pictures. I used my ferro rod. It worked great. Fired up on the first strike. These will become a permanent part of my kit and I'll spread them out among my other bags and my EDC.

I am super excited to try it and love the video showing how to use it properly. Unfortunately, the paracord is a little messed up in that the outer shelling has let the inside strands out but it certainly isn't a dealbreaker. One of the sharp edges probably tore it open but other than that I am very excited to have it in my bug out bag.

I bought this ferro rod to replace the one that came with my MoraKniv which broke prematurely. After removing the black cover material, this thing sheds sparks like no body's business. As for the little metal multi use tool strikers, well I'm left handed so I don't think they're working for me. I switched paracord to the orange line, and am very pleased with the unit. Received my fire starter kit today. Had to try it out at 10:00 pm in the dark lol. I had never used a ferro rod before. Opened the package, read the directions, started the burn in about 4 strokes. EXCELLENT product!!! Gives me the peace of mind I can start a fire, if need be without a lighter, matches, or gas.

when you need a fire these will get it going under the most extreme conditions.you still have to know how to build a fire-got that part down then with bigfoot bushcraft fire plugs your good to go.

I tested my 1st plug in my wood stove on New Years Eve. I had left it out overnight intending to use it but forgot. It was in an awkward place for striking but a single spark immediately lit the plug and ignited and burned long enough to start the seasoned oak logs in stove. Worked beyond my expectation! I gave plugs and sent the website to several friends over the holiday.
