I was excited to try these. I had read a ton about them on the net and had been back and forth on what to buy. The consensus seemed to be that you just can’t go wrong with Variations and the consensus was right. I hadn’t used iems since the oughties and boy have they come a long way. The Variations are smooth, strident, and well rounded. Very pleased with headphones.com as well for providing such great detail on the entire purchasing and receiving process.

I regularly disagree with some of DMS's assessments in his reviews, so I was skeptical when he gave a glowing review of the Hisenior Audio Mega5-EST. I'd never heard of the company, and the look of the faceplate in muted blue sparkle was uninspiring. Still, I pre-ordered a pair, and I received them last week. I've had time to listen to them against several other IEMs I own, so I wanted to share my experiences. The TLDR: DMS was spot-on in his review of the Mega5-EST. They're not perfect, but th...

I bought this DAC to pair with a Singxer SA-1. I upgraded from a JDS labs stack. The DAC is more or less an upgrade over the JDS by having more features, more connectivity, and better build quality. I'm unsure if it's better in sound since I haven't A/B tested it. It is still a properly good sounding dac though. I wouldn't use this as a stand alone unit unless I absolutely had to. The amp seems like it was included as an after thought. It actually sounds worse than an atom 2 ( I did A/B t...

I bought an open box at about a $500 discount. Everything was in the box in perfect condition. I even received the a bonus Apex module. They were kind enough to mail it to a remote island in Alaska and sent me notifications on the whereabouts of my package in route. Good job! I just gave these bad boys a quick listen and holy moly 1000% impressed. Mind blown . One thing you can never get from the pictures is how small these are at least compared to my variations. Some reviewer said the cables we...

I've been listening to the E3 for a few weeks now and they've exceeded my expectations to the point where I'm listening to them more than all my other cans combined. The E3 is a great all-arounder for enjoying all genres of music, gaming and movies. They're comfortable to wear 6+ hours a day with some slight modifications (more below) and I would characterize their presentation as slightly warm of neutral with a pleasantly wide soundstage for a closed back. The E3 responds very well to Peace EQ ...

The U4s arrived in very good condition & Headphones.com, shipped the same day that I ordered. Also, these sound so similar to the U12t that I have a hard time justifying to even keep the U12t for double the cost. Note : The U4s that I got came with the M12 modules, which makes this purchase even more better, since they stopped including M12 modules recently. Thanks! - acaldejon.

Rough start and mixed emotions when i first received my set. From pictures i expected the unit to be a clean bright white in color. My set is more of a pearl cream color. Initial sound was very disappointing, there was little to no bass and anything in the sub region didn't exist. Somewhere in the high notes it sounded very sharp and unpleasant. I tried a few different DACs before playing with EQ. I tried a few different tips i had laying around including some generic foam ones but i was very di...

The Arya Organic is definitely one of my favorites. The Arya/HE1000 design in general are THE most comfortable headphone design as well. Very light, good support on top, very open (stays cool), and surround the ears without touching. Bass is very nice, deep, and impactful. Treble is also good, bright but smooth. Compared to the HE1000se the organic are more v shaped sounding, but not by a lot. Still sound very similar. HE1000SE is a bit smoother and has more natural mid range.

The tube mini and the power base are an excellent combination: a small footprint with an amazing sound. I am listening right now to my ZMF Bokeh and the pairing is the best I have heard them sound. The warm tubey sound adds a new dimension to my music without losing the detail. An excellent purchase and another fantastic Headphones.com experience.

I loved the Meze 109Pros with my Chord Mojo 2/Poly combo, and they sound great with my balanced Schiit stack (Magnius/Modius/Locius). But I’ve got to say, running it through my first tube amp that arrived today (a Schiit Vali 2++) has a special warmth to it that really appeals to me. And the 109s are so beautifully crafted too. Thank you!

This is an absolutely amazing amp. This amp drives the ds tungsten with authority. Not to mention, really shines with high impedance headphones. In the short amount of time I have had it. It is quickly becoming my favorite amp. The volume knob is just icing on the cake. It is just so satisfying to adjust the volume. The amp sounds super clean and detailed even with just the jj tubes. Especially for the sale price this amp is a steal.

Absolutely stunned with the WANDLA. I used it initially with a Burson Conductor 3X Reference, bypassing the Burson's DAC, and I was already quite impressed with how revealing I found the sound. The OOR was back-ordered but I got lucky and it came in sooner than expected. I really appreciate the synergy between the OOR and WANDLA. I am hearing details in the recordings that were already there, but until I heard them on this new stack I never really noticed them. A new level of enjoyment of m...

I hesitated for a while before trying these, I had previously picked up the Monarch Mk3s and even though I really enjoyed them I had a few gripes and comfort issues. I finally pulled the trigger on these and boy was I missing out. It might sound crazy but I actually prefer these to the MK3s, they lack some upper treble detail and resolution but they are tuned way more fun and engaging. They are also at least 15% smaller and I have no issues with comfort, I've worn these with the Dunu S&S or...

These are by far the best sounding headphones I own. Unfortunately I had to send the first pair back due to a balancing issue. Not sure what caused it but there was an issue that caused the return process to take longer than normal so support went ahead and sent a new pair to me free of charge. Super pleased with the communication and transparency from them. A+ support.

This is my first pair of headphones costing more than $300, so I don't have a lot of comparable headphone experience to draw on in reviewing these. That said, I am a trained musician with attentive ears and these headphones deliver all the clarity and nuance that I was hoping for. I've enjoyed listening to a range of music on them, but more so acoustic/classical/jazz. I mention that because these are excellent if you prioritize accurate reproduction of the source. Wonderful build and best comfort of any IEM I've owned. Cable a bit thin and tangly, but perfect ergonomically. Included dongle sounds warm and wide, but these benefit from a better source. Awesome sound, and best 1DD IEM under IE600 price range. Nothing offensive about the sound, maybe could use a bit more mids presence but otherwise a great budget IEM.

Absolutely amazing! The experience is expansive, airy, deep, and rich. The texturing is fantastic - as if there are multiple drivers in the earcups versus the single 50mm hybrid. The sound resonates in beautiful, transparent coherence across the frequency range (especially the bass region). Burn in is real. Palpable. Brand new, the sound was crystalline with a slight granularity and subtle tightness about it (especially the treble region). But with 30-40 hours of use everything started becomin...

The WA8 is the most beautiful "brick" I've ever held. It is weighty and the craftsmanship is phenomenal yet utterly simple. I was even more impressed by the sound quality. I wanted a little more meaty presentation from my 64 Audio u12t's and the combo did not disappoint. It's not really portable but it will be easy to set-up any where in the house so that is a plus. If you've done the research and this is on your list, pull the trigger.

After comparing the Bathys to my PX8, I'm 100% sold on the Bathys owing to their clarity. While PX8 makes some fun tweaks to the audio to make it more punchy, I found that the clarity of the Bathys take listening to a new level. Even at 48 kHz. With Bathys I can listen to tracks/works from start to finish and be mesmerized the entire time. In contrast, the audio tricks that PX8 employs make more complex compositions a hot blurry mess by comparison. While A/B testing on vocals has been more ...

These Empire Ears Ravens are great iems. I was using Sony ier-z1rs and they aren’t too shabby, but the Empire Ears Ravens are a sound class above the Sony’s. The Raven’s sound is so beautifully accurate that I can’t imagine another iem, at any cost, that would sound better. I use the Ravens with my A&K sp3000 DAP and the Raven’s sound is extraordinarily wonderful.

Listening to Miles Davis's "Kind of Blue" (96khz 24bit) as I type this through my Pixel Phone and ibasso Dc-Elite USB DAC . Am really amazed at how beautiful the combo sounds. I have the DUNU SA6, a in-ear I thought highly of , but became too much Bass focused with the recently bought iBasso DC-Elite for my 72 year old ears. Love the Mega-EST. I have always loved the look of focal headphones, so when the Elex went on sale I had to get a pair. They did not disappoint. I'm upgrading from a 6xx and Sundara combo. These seem to combine the best parts of both, but with additional bass and sub bass extension. These have quickly replaced the two on my desk. I’ve tried a lot of IEMs that seem to do one or two things really well at the expense of other aspects. One will be very detailed but sound tonally off. One will have great technicalities but harsh tuning. One will be great for metal but perform poorly for jazz. The Mega5est is the first set to my ears that sounds excellent on all levels. Some complain that it’s a jack of all trades and true master of none, but as someone who actually likes to enjoy my music I’d rather have a set that’s an A- by...

These are insanely underrated IEMs. First of all, I used to own the Moondrop S8 a couple of months ago, well... the Dark Saber is essentially a more dynamic sounding version of the S8 but still retains the same technicalities of it. Furthermore, the bass response has about 1-2 DB more presence in the sub bass, while still having adequate mid bass to not sound too thin or anemic.
