This knife came in very sharp. I still used my sharpener due to ensuring all burns were removed, but when I cut into my steak the first time, it cut like butter. I am a heavy cooking utensil lover, heavy equals long life! Today as a matter of fact I used my knife to cut a tomato for a BLT sandwich, again cut through the tomato like butter. These are really cool looking functional knifes that should hold their edges very good. I like them, worth the money.
