Imho, it IS rather pricy in today's economy, even at the "sale" price. I have used the Mason Genie twice to seal a jar of walnuts and a jar of rolled oats. Love the detachable head for the wide mouth jars and that it can be used for both regular and larger Mason jars. I also love the tops that come with it for easy labeling and dating. I bought the chalk markers too.
