1-2" and over require a little pressure on the foot step by me or a caretaker. Seating area is a little crowded at shoulder height due to the arm rests. It goes over grass and uneven ground very smoothly and carpets and small bumps in the house are unnoticeable. It could be helpful if the tires were treaded rather than flat as the wheels can slide on hard surfaces while breaking but usually slow enough that it is not a problem. Do not park on a hill and sit...that may not hold.
