We’ve been using this for a few weeks now, and we’re both very pleased so far.
I only use it for running; my other half uses it to get her steps in when the weather is poor. 12km/h is certainly fast enough; I tend to switch between 8-10 to keep my heart rate up for 30 minutes. These machines are missing incline, but it’s a worthwhile trade-off considering their space-saving design.
It’s still heavy and slightly awkward to move; I need to set it up for my other half. This is partly to do with where we keep it; it needs to be lifted out, then lowered to the floor to begin unfolding. I’m sure she could drag it out and lower it carefully, but I’m happy to do it. It was quite challenging to get upstairs too; I’m strong and I’m used to moving large and heavy things.
It’s quiet enough to run on when the kids are in bed, but not silent. Most sound comes from the footsteps, rather than the motor/belt. Certainly quiet enough for walking.
I’ve only ever used it with running shoes, which have never been worn outside to keep the machine clean. My other half tried it barefoot/socks once and bought running shoes for her next go.
The iOS app is decent. I mainly use it to adjust speed; I’ve updated the presets for interval training. There is a feature to keep the screen on, which doesn’t seem to work; it’s not important enough for me to troubleshoot; I’m changing speeds every few minutes so it rarely bothers me. I’ve tried the exercises a couple of times and it’s decent! I mostly stick on an Apple Fitness+ treadmill workout. My other half says the Android app is solid too. Links to Apple Health and the Google equivalent with no issues.
I’ve added a MagSafe stand to the phone holder with Velcro; at higher speeds, my phone was bouncing everywhere, and I added a clamp-on bottle holder.
My only slight concern is that the belt can creep over to one side, and it makes a rubbing noise. This is mostly at running speeds, and you can run with a bias to the other side to realign the belt. I’ve also felt the belt slip slightly on some footsteps, again mostly at higher speeds. For me, neither is a big concern, and you can’t compare these machines to the ones you’ll use in a gym because they cost multiple thousands and are huge in comparison.
All said and done, no regrets. This model feels like the sweet spot for our needs; highly recommended!
