They need to offer sample jerseys so you can preview the fit and fabric. There is no reason they can't have blank jerseys available to ship to customers that can be previewed and sent back. In this day of so many online options, being able to test the fit and fabric is a must. This is the price they pay for not having to have physical overhead but still being able to reach customers everywhere.
