Just got it and have already put it through some difficult tests. It easily handled all I put it through. This broadfork is well designed and made. Glad it has the round tube instead of square you were right. Also glad I went with steel handles. I like quality and am pleased with my Treadlite

I have an invasive weed (bishops weed or goutweed) in a number of my garden beds. When I saw your advertisement on Facebook I thought it would be perfect to dig up the goutweed. Their roots go down about 6-8 inches and crisscross with one another. The shape of the tines are perfect for digging up the roots, loosening the soil around the roots. I then can easily pull out the weeds. I also have a rocky area where I am planting perennials and the treadlite broadfork is perfect for tilling the s...

Works great! Very well built! I have tried doing this with a tiller before, and you spend more time removing vines and such from the tiller. I have about 4 acres of bottom land in North Georgia, that was wet and flooded all the time. New bridge made the field dry out, so now I am removing weeds and wildflowers, by hand with my new Treadlite Broadfork. Thanks so much. Suggestion... build one with 3 tines and one handle... a SPADING FORK...

It took a while to receive it as they ā€œare a small company and were producing [the model we ordered]ā€ at that moment. That’s understandable and I’m happy they’re having such a good response to their product. That’s said, my wife ABSOLUTELY loves it in the garden!!! It gets deep under the soil and disrupts the packed ground without displacing the layers. You can tell, immediately, that the roots of plants will have lots of room to spread out and find good growth paths. It made quick work of se...

I sent you a video on instagram.... I'm a 125* petite older woman with back and knee injuries and I show how I use it without pain or strain in my clay heavy soil beds before adding compost. I have lots of big rocks that keep moving to the surface and have bent my pitchfork more than once while trying to get them out. I'm thinking this thing isn't going to bend or twist! It's not as light as I would've imagined but I'm getting the hang of it as I prep more beds. I'm really glad I got it! I ...

We have a 12’ x 32’ backyard garden and in the past we used a very small tiller that only dug down about 6ā€ deep at best and took about 4 hours to do a good job. Plus fighting with gas and spark plug and oil and getting it started! With this new Treadlite broadfork we dug a full 8ā€ deep and from start to finish was 3 hours! It was so easy to push it into the soil with both feet. We will NEVER use a rototiller again. This was amazing and we’ve told so many people about it!

This is my first broad fork, after admiring them and learning about them from regenerative gardeners online. And I love it. Works just as I expected, and fits perfectly in my garden beds.

I garden at my church Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Newark, NJ which has heavy clay soil that has been compacted by decades to tillage. My treadlite broadfork sunk deep into the clay so I could lift it and aerate it. It was worth investing in treadlite.

Was super excited to see this was made in Appleton, WI, not only USA made, but my home state!! Very well built and good customer service. Already used the fork to open spots for my new cherry trees. I expect that it'll be a helpful tool in my battle against quack grass in my orchard. Shared my excitement on my Facebook and Instagram as well 😁

The ground on our property had been neglected before we bought it so we invested a Treadlite Broadfork in order to break it up and let it retain moisture and breathe again. This thing has been amazing for starting new garden areas as well as breaking up areas of the ā€œlawnā€ that are so compacted we couldn’t get anything to grow. These are sturdy tools that will provide years of spring time exercise!

Farming is hard work, especially when you have clay soil. However, the broadfork gets deep enough to loosen the soil up and allow our composts to mix in. Goes deeper than our rototiller. Yes, it takes longer, but the results are superior. Wish we had this tool years ago.

The broadfork far exceeded my expectations for quality construction, design and ease of use. It was exactly the tool needed for the yard reclamation project I had. It was very easy to control around stones, shallow areas of soil, tree roots, etc. I’m 67 and was able to use it with no aches and pains. Thank you so much!

I used my Wren to turn over a garden on a steep slope that had been allowed to go to weed. My broadfork was small enough for me to use on the slope, yet tough enough to handle the weeds. It enabled me to get the garden prepared for planting quickly and efficiently. I’m very pleased with this tool!

My broadfork arrived quickly as promised. It certainly does what it is intended to do, i.e., breaking up the soil deeply. I turned my first bed, which already existed, in one pass. I haven't broken new ground yet and I'm anxious to see how it does in our soil in that scenario. I had an unrealistic expectation as it turns out of what the final appearance would be of the turned soil. It still took quite a bit of effort with hoe and rake to break down the clumps of soil turned by the broadfork. Th...

I needed to dig a 2-foot trench around a large fenced garden (30 x 40), and the plow broadfork has proven invaluable for cutting through the turf and loosening the soil for digging. It's a heck of a job (with Connecticut rocky soil), but the broadfork has been a lifesaver. You can use your bodyweight to speed the process. The broadfork itself is extremely sturdy (though I'd suggest opting for steel handles as I did if you're putting it to the test).

I rarely endorse or offer positive reviews of stuff. That said the Treadlight Broadfork is a BRILLIANT tool! High quality steel fully welded, powder coated, and very well thought out. The function beats the tiller and it’s actually far easier. In my simple beds made from 2X8X8s I toss in 4-6 inches of good ā€œsoilā€ and below that is hardpack. Even if I tilled first, the best I’m getting is 3ā€ down with 6ā€ tines. This ā€œtillsā€ 12ā€ with nothing but my fat ass and leverage. If you make multiple ...

Putting in a food plot for wildlife in the woods on a ridgeline that has never been worked. Using the fork differently than recommended. Stabbing the soil ever 3-4" and offsetting the tines each time. I am ending up with soil broken up enough to immediately broadcast seeds from radishes to soybeans. There is barely an inch of topsoil on top of a sandy clay. Able to getva well "tilled" soil without loosing the fragile, very thin, topsoil.

Great leverage for dislocating highly-compacted clay. My only complaint is that the tines didn’t stand up to some of my rocks. The steel handles give you so much leverage that I bent back the tips of the tines (in fairness one of these rocks weighed hundreds of pounds). I hammered the tips back into form but wonder if some sort of hardening could be applied.

Perfect tool to loosen the soil for my home garden. So much better than rototilling, as it is much easier to use & did not disrupt the beneficial micro fungal environment the way rototilling can. Another bonus was significantly fewer weeds in my garden this year. Sturdy & well built tool that will last for years. Loaned it to a couple of friends this spring after we used it. Excellent investment for any home gardener.

Ive been gardening for 35 years and never heard of this before this past year, took the plunge and wonder how I made it work without? easier than a tiller, more effective and gentler on both me and the soil than a tiller and I dont have to maintain anything!

Absolutely love my new broadfork!!! We have super heavy rock-hard clay and it holds up beautifully. I have been using it to loosen the soil to plant new fruit trees, around weeds to make them easier to pull, and basically EVERYWHERE in our yard to loosen the soil so I can actually get a shovel in. It has been absolutely the best tool that I have ever bought for our yard.

Sturdy and very well made. I opted for the steel handles for longevity of the product. I really don’t feel that the weight with the steel handles is too bad. I was able to turn over the soil in my garden very easily and thoroughly, in record time. And I appreciate the workout I got as well! This is a game changer for soil prep.

The hardest part of using it is carrying it from spot to spot, it is rather heavy but using it was fun and it fluffed my soil nicely. Working it in a raised bed or any bed where the room available to step back is a bit of a learning curve. I still have one more garden ( Our Dahlia clubs display garden ) to try it in , the real reason I bought this tool. The tubers are still in the ground but soon we will dig and I can really put that fork to the test !!

I bought the 20" 12" tine broad fork to deal with my heavy clay soil without having to deal with a tiller and all the noise and damage it can cause. Turns out the fork is a very zen way of working in the garden; peaceful and effective. I have the ash handles and they work great. If my soil was dry and tough clay I would probably spring for the metal handles. Great product!!

I am new to no till gardening and wasn’t sure what size of broadfork to purchase so I tried calling and no one answered. I went ahead and ordered what I thought I needed. Travis, the owner, ended up returning my call and helped me to understand what size would work for me and then switched my order. I have used the fork for the last week and have been impressed with the results I am getting cleaning the gardens for fall/winter. Strongly recommend.

LOVE this tool! I did have to call in my husband to do the initial break-up of the beds because my soil was so compacted. Now that it's broken up, though, I will be able to easily turn the soil for planting in the spring. This broadfork is study and works exactly as advertised! GREAT craftsmanship!
