The shorter shelves worked great for our chunky friends but we added extea support to the two longer shelves because our cats weigh about 12lbs each and were causing the metal shelf brackets on the long shelves to bend. Amazing catio, i bought two different catios and connected them, i have 6 cats, they love it. we used a drill for all the catio, it made it easy, the only part that was hard to put was the roof, because we had to ask a friend to help us, two of us hold it and the third person put the screws, we put one half first and then the second half, once we got the third person to help us to hold it , it took like 20 min to put the screws and done.

We found it to be fairly easy to assemble. Some of the pilot holes were not there according to my husband, but most were. Ours is up against a window of the house on the deck. We’re just finishing the fine tuning and need to screw it into the deck and house for security, and then our kitties can go out in it, hopefully today. But we’re pleased with the catio. We do wish the board with the picture of cartoon cats was just a grey board, but that’s a minor detail.

i have mixed feelings abt this purchase. the wheel itself is fine, but it seems kind of small for my cat, who i consider more compact that the average cat. he's still learning to use it though, so maybe we'll discover the size is actually fine once he's more comfortable. it was also INCREDIBLY difficult to assemble. i couldn't snap any piece together with just my hands. i also tried a hammer to no avail. i ended up needing to step on each piece in 3 places to get each prong to lock together.
