It works great for an Hors D'oeuvres tray. However, I really wanted to use it as a prep tray - IE: chop up onions, peppers, olives, etc. on one day and then use the tray to store prepped food for a week of crepes, omelettes, tacos, salads, etc. As it turns out, the pre-prep concept is somewhat flawed in that some things go bad before others and cleaning individual compartments is a pain.
