I bought my Voormi river run hoody in 2021 for the Washington PCT and have worn it for about 1500 miles on trail since. It's the only shirt I wear backpacking, in a wide range of three season conditions. I’ve owned a lot of wool from many brands. Most of those left me with the same problem, durability. This hoodie is completely different. I’ve had this hoodie for 7 years. Many many hunts; briars, bushes, thorns, crawling through sage brush and cactus. Still have not wore a hole or pulled the thread. Snow, rain, ice, wind, nothing gets through this piece. Love the shirt! Bought in Bozeman from a super nice and informative guy working that day. It’s very comfortable against my skin (which can be sensitive). It moves with you on hikes and is cozy enough to just chill in. I used it as a top layer for the crisp morning hike up to Avalanche Lake and just kept it on all day even when it got warmer to protect my arms from the sun. Didn’t overheat. Great fabric, great customer service, very happy repeat customer. To say I don't leave home without a river run hoodie is an understatement. From summer in the Sierras to Fall in Banff to Winter in Montana to Spring in Acadia it has performed well through it all. It breaths well and protects from UV light in the summer (even 100F). Bought this jacket in April when in Bozeman for the MSU/Big Sky Rodeo championships. I live in CO and have worn it a hand full of times since April but had it last week at an outdoor yoga event and was so happy it was in my car. I wore the Voormi River Run Hoodie for a 40-mile run on the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu. We did the run over two days, climbing over 17k feet of elevation along the way. So glad I discovered this puffy! It performs in the cold - whether I’m sitting in the cold watching a game or walking my dog in 15 degree temps. It’s perfect under a shell in heavy snowfall or standing against a stiff northern wind. I just completed the 40 mile Dark Canyon Wilderness Loop in Utah and the shirt was incredibly comfortable, rugged, and breathable. I wore the shirt for 5 days and 4 nights in hugely diverse weather, from 90 degree days to 45 degree nights and an extra bonus 15 hour rain. This is a warm versatile jacket! I was thinking of a puffy that could cover from shoulder season to yhe coldest days for which I have a super warm down parka. The San Juan is perfect for layering which takes it from 50 or 60 degrees down to about 20 to 25 degrees without layers down to probably 0 or -10 or -20 with a light puffy or sweater (or another voormi hoody) inside.
