I've used only synthetic core strings since I started playing, so this is a new experience for me. The sound is definitely different. I have several violins, one with synthetic and one with steel. I switch off depending on what I want to play, but gradually I am loving the steel strings more. A crisp sound that is more in line with fiddle playing as opposed to the mellow sound of the synthetic strings on the other violing.

I did a bow trial with 2 carbon fiber bows and 2 Pernambuco bows. This was the cheapest of the 4 but I instantly fell in love with it. It made my violin sing. It's never sounded so good.
