This 2018 Nero d’Avola was an interesting sensational surprise! A bit tight and tart on opening but as it breathed while we savored, it delivered ripe plum aromas, baking spices on the palate giving way to soft tannins with just the right balance of acidity and alcohol. Food friendly with good value also make this wine’s every sip deserving of attention. Blackwell is our new reliable source of interesting libations, shipping and customer care are outstanding!

My friends and I did a blind tasting of 6 bourbons. Very Old Barton came in third for $25 a bottle! One person rated it their first choice. It was up against some pretty stiff competition with 5 other brands ranging from $60 a bottle up to $350. For what it costs compared to how it rates can not be matched in my book! It will always be in my cabinet from here on out!

Once of my favorites and one of the best deals in bourbon in my view. The high corn content likely won't be enjoyed if you don't like the sweetness that comes with that, but if you do you will really enjoy. Nice notes of fruit on the front end along with a hint of earthiness, smooth and balanced throughout, and nice vanilla and caramel on the finish.

I can not say I have tried this whiskey yet, so my review is only on the bottle. I love it! I loved Joe back in his Niner days and couldn't pass this bottle up once I saw it. It seems like a high quality bottle and looks very much like a gold bar. Maybe some day I'll open it, but until then, it'll make a great conversation piece behind my bar!

Jack Daniel's has really been on a role. So much great juice! the 12yr, 10yr and Coy Hill are all spectacular. The Barrel Proof Whiskey is a solid contender as well. This Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye is fantastic. Rich, dark and deep, with a strong rye fruit component. It drinks way under proof, very balanced and smooth, but tons of depth of flavor.

GOAT. Shame it’s so hard to get but it’s so smooth. Imperceivable it’s a high proof blanco. Others have that ethanol burn that mask the agave. Fortaleza goes down with pure agave flavor.
