We purchased the pads to help our aging (arthritic) dog negotiate the stairs without slipping.
They work well, although they tend to slip on the wood surface of the stair treads. If this is an issue, one can purchase pads that are secured with sticky tape, but we wanted the flexibility of being able to remove the pads when house-cleaning. We had expected the pads to remain in position a bit better than they actually do, but it's not a big issue to adjust them each day.
