Pre-pandemic, I volunteered each year for a gala fundraiser for my favorite non-profit. The dress is fancy, but we spend a lot of time on our feet as volunteers. We are told to wear comfortable shoes, but of course most of the women ignore that advice. My solution was to wear a pair of Apropos shoes. Previously, my black skimmers were my go to shoe. This style, along with Red and Black Tuxedo, are my favorite dressy styles where most women would probably wear a traditional pump or dressy sandal. I really appreciate the comfort and get lots of compliments. I think I own almost all the current styles except for the corals, browns, and oranges - which wouldn't match anything in my wardrobe. Since they last such a long time, I'm going to need to wait for some new fabrics or hunt down my own fabric and get a custom pair made.

I bought these to wear during a rug hooking workshop I attended this spring. My plan was to wear them with one outfit, but they looked so good and were so comfortable that I wore them the entire time. They exceeded my expectations in terms of style and fit, and were eye-catching without being too showy. I received a lot of compliments from the other rug hookers and textile artists. I purchased my first pair of Apropos shoes on a visit to Boston more than 20 years ago - you had a pushcart/pop-up store in Faneuil Hall. They were a beige and black tweedy print. I quickly followed up with pair of plain black, and a nautical navy, denim blue and white nautical print. These might be the cutest shoes ever- they look even better in real life than the pictures. I got them to wear to my daughter's wedding, and I am totally delighted. Also, I have super-skinny feet and especially narrow heels. CS was wonderful to work with, and they were able to adjust the fit on my pair with no additional delay or expense. So comfortable, I've been wearing them around the house. I don't want to take them off.

I just received my first pair of Black Jax shoes and they are amazing! They fit my foot like a glove and don't slip in the heel, which is a problem I have with so many shoes. Catherine was wonderful to work with in determining the best size for me. I originally ordered a pair in Charred Copper, but they were a bit snug and the fabric wasn't as flexible as the Black Jax. I returned them for the Black Jax and absolutely love them! This will not be my last pair of Apropos shoes.

I love, love my Apropos shoes! I travel to see my family twice a year, wearing your shoes nonstop for 2 weeks. That includes 9 hour flights & playing with kids! I travel with just carry-on. After many fabrics of apropos footwear over a period of probably more than 25 years ago, I now know why they are referred to as “conversation shoes!” Wherever I travel for work or at home they are always on my feet! I cannot begin to count the times I have been stopped and asked “I love your shoes they look so comfortable which I reply, “ I don’t own a pair of shoes that can beat apropos footwear.”I wash them on delicate cycle and line dry and have never had a problem.
