Instead I had it epoxyed with the plan being to use it as a console table. The epoxy really brought out the color & grain. My late husband was a sculptor for some years and made tables with leftover marble. This table had a piece of trunk as a base, but it became chewed up by bugs (probably termites). I looked all over for a replacement, and this stand is the only one I found that could be used as an end table instead of a coffee table. I am delighted with the result. One of my favorite finished projects. Absolutely love the look of the black table legs contrasted with the purity of the white oak. Used the bandsaw to resew a 10" white oak board. Bookmatched top is 19 3'4" by 41 3/4" joined with dominos. Finished with Rubio Monocoat Pure and topped with NANO3 ceramic coating.
