The JiuFen Old street is my first Book Nook. I am amazed by the details of the pieces and how they are smartly designed and cut in a way, when they are assembled, they create such a beautiful scene of the old street of JiuFen. Lovely kit with lots of detail. I have not long started it so have quite a bit to do. Two problems I had though were - the plain part of the wheel without spokes had broken into multiple pieces...just that broken in all the bags is strange, but also the paint was missing. Both of these i have sorted out so that is ok. Look forward to doing more...just want few more hours in each day!! Thanks.

Great build except that the elaborate geared door handle did would not turn, even after trying to follow the directions exactly after 3 attempts, and was rather disappointing since there were several gears involved in the assembly. Well made, and instructions are clear. Need to use a sharp knife to remove a lot of pieces so they don't break, but take your time and they come out fine. Very pleased with this purchase, and will probably purchase more once this one is done.

Its a beautiful and detailed piece, but mine in particular came with many issues. First and foremost, none of the electrics with the exception of the lights had soldered connections. That prompted me to have to purchase a soldering iron to fix this. The fit and finish was not the best and the wooden parts are very delicate. Some of the pieces de-laminated. And several of the boards were warped. I would say that 80% of the pieces needed to be glued in place because they would not stay in. ...

The kit arrived on time and was very well boxed and presented. The instructions are clear and the kit goes together very well. I was a bit skeptical about the wooden mechanics for the rolling countryside but it does work well. Time constraints have meant I have not yet completed the kit but a forecast rainy weekend will give me time to enjoy completion.

I enjoyed assembling this book nook very much. I thank you for the excellent organization of all the parts. Labeling and identifying parts is critical to the process enjoyment. If one has to search and search for parts, there goes the fun. I had a problem with one of the clear plastic pieces that span the top breaking and managed to glue it together, the break is visible but not terrible. Thank you for a wonderful experience. This was a gift for my wife who loves trains, and she was very happy with the gift. From the video online I thought the kit also included train sound effects, but it didn’t. So I ordered a simple train sounds kit meant for model railroads and it all fit within the model case! Really adds to the effect. This should be an option from the company. I have much experience building models and this kit was more challenging than expected. But it turned out really well in the end.

I loved the complexity. It’s more detailed and involved than the Kyoto Gion model, which is what I did previously. The buildings aren’t just two dimensional. There are layers and they bring a sense of realism. You start to actually feel like you are building something real. Love it! I want to see more models of this complexity. They are so fun to put together!

My only gripe is that the wooden pieces could of been numbered better, some of the numbers were a lot faded making them hard to decipher. The water wheel is awesome. There are certain parts that are very thin and easy to break. Might want to look at that I was trying to update the one on the clock. I got the entire thing done except for the spring and when i went to put it in, it didn't work. So now i am going to have to debug why. I was so dissapointed

Slot inserts often proved a daunting task, especially when attaching left side panel to complete the full internal scene. After several total collapses, I cut off the three tabs, reconstructed everything and glued all in place. Excellent instructions and beautifully crafted pieces. Well worth the price!! I recommend purchasing any of the offered models. I have built dozens of miniature pieces but I am enjoying this one the most as the it challenges my skills without being frustrating to assemble.

The bookstore nook was interesting to build but the instructions were not clear and there was ambiguity on when to glue parts. Some of the parts measurements seemed a little off too which resulted in some parts being broken by accident. The end result is great - but it took me more like 16 hours than '4-6 hours'! The instructions could be much clearer - especially about where to use glue (which is almost everywhere) rather than implying that you can just clip pieces together. And some of the clip-in slots are far too tight, so you risk bending one of the pieces. The wiring for the lights is also very flimsy and fiddly - I was amazed that I got all the lights to work first time! (I used a proper wire connector with screw-fixings...

It is very artistic and generally a delight to construct; however the LED strips do not adhere very well. Some of the parts were a bit fragile. I was very careful with the door. Also the large boards tended to warp. I had to hold the structure together with rubber bands at the top. It might be a good idea to add an appropriatly colored rubber band as a final touch.
