It was a Christmas gift for my 34 yr old daughter. She thoroughly enjoyed putting it together and found it very relaxing. She put it together in 5 hours. Wish I had a picture to add to this review. She is looking forward to getting another one!

It did take a couple of weeks to arrive (was shipped from China, not California as the website leads you to believe). That being said, when I ordered it, it did go out for delivery the next day (based on tracking history). When it did arrive, my college student was thrilled. She spent 2 days building it, and it is adorable. Just as described. Takes patience to build and complete.

Although the building process was rigorous, the end result is undeniable. I came into this project unaware of the detail and repetition of some of the steps, which was a bit of a chore. But, as I said before, the end result is a beautiful piece of art that lends great character to any book collection.

Do you also make dollhouses where the furniture and things can be moved around after completion? That would be a great product, too!

This was a challenge! The tiny wooden parts required a lot of delicate touch. I even broke a couple of them along the way. I'm glad that we can request for free replacement parts easily. But overall, the end result is absolutely fantastic.

Be sure you obtain all the necessary tools to build your miniature projects. Amazon Prime is your friend. Read the instructions so you can have the chance to enjoy the excitement of piecing together these beautifully generated masterpieces. Patience and persistence is required. Don’t expect a LEGO project. This is the real deal. Can take weeks and months but certainly worth it. Therapeutic to say the least.

This Ginzan Onsen took me a lot longer than I expected. The pictorial directions were hit and miss. Just as I was finishing this days-long project, I found detailed step-by-step videos on YouTube. If I had watched those first, I could have finished it in a day or two. I ended up buying two more kits and will follow the videos to make things easier.

This is the third model I’ve built, and it’s the most detailed and challenging one so far. If you have experience, it won’t be too tough, but I wouldn’t recommend it for beginners.

I love that there are only wood pieces—no other fussy materials to work with. Having a nail file on hand is nice for sanding down the little bumps—easier to use than the little square of sandpaper they give you. The light and the movement are great touches. Lovely little kit!

Beautiful. My 14-year-old son enjoyed building it and took great pride in it. I was worried the vintage motif might be too old-fashioned, but it’s not. It’s a lovely art and craft piece and makes for a great conversation starter.

Didn't have any real complaints, but it's definitely tedious and time-consuming. Still, it's a charming little model meant to be tackled at your own pace. I was so addicted to building it that I worked on it all day . I love the colors and the details and the fact it lights up. I've placed it snugly between two books on my bookshelf.

This must be an earlier product. The instructions were not great and the English was clearly written by a non-English speaker. Every instruction ends with “…stick it..”. Sometimes “sticking it” by heavily relying on the glue is not easy. Both show windows in front are made to open to see the inside but other decorations in front of the windows, it is not practical. This was my first book nook project. It took me many months to complete because it needs a lot of patience and time. It was worth it, though. Lots of fun and very satisfying to finish. I chose not to put the light in because it seemed too hard, but I regret that now. I had trouble with the plastic frame, and it came out a bit crooked, but I hid my mistakes with the plants. I just ordered my next mini project and think this is a fun new hobby!
