Excellent piece, I just wish the rhino sheath had a hook on either side, would make the draw more reliable from down grip and it would look like an anchor. It’s the unofficial knife of my training group, everyone is getting mine after I showed it off.

I thought the blade edges would be sharp, but it can’t be help. Not a complaint, the tip is very thick so it wouldn’t be possible to be sharp. All and all, very good design. The holster is great too.

I looked the company up and ordered a few pocket knives for my friends, they got to Alaska superfast and were awesome, so I figured I would try it again this time I ordered fillet knives. Just received this Fireside on Wednesday and it came with the black plastic scales. Nice looking blade however it could have been sharper but it was only $30 plus I can take care of that issue. So what do you do when you can't find aftermarket scales for you Skallywag and have a ton of extra Corian laying around to choose from? You take 6 hours to sketch out and make your own at home. I can say that these are my best and worst knife scales I have ever made, because I've never made any before. ...

Well to tell the truth I was super skeptical of the boot due to a bunch of reviews dis'n on the knife not staying in the sheath it looked great but was functioning and knowing skallywag as well as I do I said let's friggin try it!! I have not yet used the knife, other than to test the edge on paper. The item arrived promptly and well packaged and very sharp. The knife feels good in the hand, very light 8 inch scimitar blade, the handle is ergonomic and of a good size and shape. The nylon sheath is adequate. Overall an excellent purchase.

Good solid piece of duty gear. My only gripes are that I bought a Damascus blade to see the raindrop coating, which was covered mostly by a powder-type coating and it arrived with a pretty bright, though small, scratch across the hilt. I imagined it would scratch at some point. I just wanted to be the one to do it.

Tape is good quality and is wearing well so far. It wraps nice and tight and there is no sticky adhesive residue oozing out. The texture of the tape is very smooth and It works well for pocket carry but is a little to slick for me when using the belt loop/ handel tuck method of carry. I will probably try a grippier silicone type tape after I run out of the monkey tape or maybe just a dab or two of liquid electrical tape onto the monkey tape. It's all about experiment and make it your own.

A great set that performs as well or better as any of those much more expensive designer knife sets. This doesn't come as any surprise as I had previous experience with a couple of Skallywag EDC knives that are simply superb. You can't go wrong with any of the products in the entire product line.

An altogether excellent knife! I have seen it compared to the knife used in Crocodile Dundee, a copy of which I also have, but the Gunnersmate is much better balanced. It also appears to be practically indestructible, being made of 1/4 inch D2 steel. I think that it will the perfect companion for a walk in the woods, not too heavy to wear on your belt, but stout enough to handle any use that a knife might be put to.
