I used this as the top of a 48" long, 7/8" diameter, wooden mahl stick. First, I drilled a 7/8" diameter, 7/8" deep hole into the cork ball. Then, I inserted the end of a 7/8" diameter, 48" long wood dowel into the hole in the cork, with some glue. Finally, a leather cover was secured around the cork ball with strong thread.

I just tried one of these out today. So the review request was fated. I am using these to make a mahl stick. Mahl sticks are used by painters to support their hands. I drilled a 1/2" diameter hole, .75" deep, into the cork ball. Into this, I inserted a 1/2" diameter, 40" long, wood dowel, and glued them together. Then, I fitted a brown leather cover over the cork-dowel assembly. The mahl stick is basically finished.

I bought a pack of six 4" x 4" x 3/8" cork squares and glued two of them to the sheet rock walls in two rooms where my wife had been making myriad holes pinning calendars to the walls. Those work beautifully for that purpose and left us 4 nice coasters to keep cold drinks from making water stains on the coffee table. Plus, WigetCo's price was very reasonable.
